Blackeggs Posted April 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2023 Hey all - I’m wondering if there are any other folks on here that are quite tall and what their experiences have been on HAL. I’m scheduled to cruise on the Zaandam in May - I’m 6’10 and am wondering if there is anything I should be aware of. Do they have mattress.extenders? thanks in advance! sciencewonk Posted April 19, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2023 I'm not tall, so I can't respond to this from personal experience, but I watched a series of youtube videos by Harr Travel. The person doing the tour was tall, I think he said he was 6'8". Here's a link to one of his videos.
Blackeggs Posted April 19, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted April 19, 2023 Thanks! If he is 6’8 then it looks like the cabin ceilings are normal 6’8 door heights. Not ideal but I won’t need to contort too much in the room.
oakridger Posted April 19, 2023 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2023 Be sure to get a balcony cabin! Room to stand up straight out there! Welcome to Cruise Critic @Blackeggs! Have a great trip! ~Nancy
Rare Gail & Marty sailing away Posted April 19, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2023 I have seen guests 7 foot plus on board.
Rare Murray's Pop Posted April 22, 2023 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2023 I'm 6'5" and have never had any issues on HAL. Beds were long enough for me with some room left over. No issues with ceiling height or doorways.
Rare 1025cruise Posted April 23, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 23, 2023 Plan to be crouching a lot.
crystalspin Posted April 23, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 23, 2023 @jthek is pretty tall and has sailed on a lot of HAL ships (he is 5*). What class/location of cabin are you booked in? I have never heard of mattress extenders being available, and in many cabin layouts there would be little room for one.
Rare mom says Posted April 23, 2023 #9 Share Posted April 23, 2023 The showers may be an issue. You'll need to duck to shampoo. And you may need to duck when going through some watertight doors below decks.
Blackeggs Posted April 23, 2023 Author #10 Share Posted April 23, 2023 20 minutes ago, mom says said: The showers may be an issue. You'll need to duck to shampoo. Etc. thank you for the insights.
Rare Essiesmom Posted April 23, 2023 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2023 Though I have never investigated them, I hear there are showers in the spa/gym areas and maybe they are more spacious. EM 1
