She actually trusts me with my primary eating tools: a proper fish knife and fork, and always continental style! On the occasion of a beef dish (rare occasion, bur more frequent than you!), she also trusts, but verifies during the course of my using a knife with a sharp blade. Very carnivalesque. Nice ship, but very rude people. It's gotten to where unless you have casino rates even carnival is more than the old $100 a day. I cant tell you how many posts I've read saying if you want a cheap cruise go look at msc. MSC is the cheapest right now ..and its attracting those with low budget wanting it all for free. 1

We will be on a B2B in October and just start planing what to do at the changeover day and at the last day as well. I posted this on a previous cruise.. Terminal opened at 10 am. Yacht Club guests wait under or close to white tent in front of terminal for YC escort to SOMETIMES separate security screening. If only one screening machine YC group will be escorted to the front of the line. Up elevator to separate check-in room, then escorted to waiting lounge. Boarding not till the ship rounds up all the "zeros" (those that have late flights and hide out on the ship). B2Bers will not be 'processed' (facial recognition) and allowed back on the ship until the "zeros" have been found and processed. Once the B2Bers are lead back on they are followed by Yacht Clubbers and then everyone else in the terminal. This began around 11:30. We were B2B (about 100 of us) waiting in line to be processed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) when a butler pointed out the "zeros" that were taking their 'sweet time' collecting the last of the remaining luggage and strolling over to the facial recognition machines. Always get this bunch of 'losers' every cruise. There is always a small group of inconsiderate passengers that have late flights or just no place to go after the cruise has ended. They dilly-dally and hold up the ship from "clearing" for the next cruise group to embark. These "losers" are called "Zeros". They are the stragglers that sometimes hide out and often the sheriffs office is called in to escort them off the ship. We all want to get on board so as not to miss our first lunch or even our turnaround lunch aka "target time". Yep and shame on us for not researching that prior to the cruise. This was a last minute cruise booked 2 months ago. It’s a shame. Msc has some real potential. Beautiful ship, great staff but the people it’s attracting with those fares is not good. And it wasn’t just rudeness. Some looked boarderline thuggish…

Some looked boarderline thuggish… I had a couple of experiences on my last MSC cruise that still stays with me. Although we were in the Yacht Club we wanted to see what the rest of the ship was like. DH and I were walking through the buffet and I felt someone elbow me. I looked down at this little man (he came to my shoulder) and he looked back at me with such hate in his eyes. I have no idea what he thought I did to him, but I can still see his face. Another time we were at that club at the back of the ship (name escapes me now). We were at a table and another woman joined us. She got up to dance, had a drink and her purse still at the table and some man came over to take her chair. "That chair is taken, she's dancing" said I. "Well, she's not sittting in it now, is she?" he replied. I grabbed the chair from him. He did let it go and went on to grab someone else's chair, I suppose. We'll still go on MSC. But only in the Yacht Club. And now I'm re-thinking booking a last minute cruise in July. Cannot deal with out of control kids, the adults are bad enough! Edited June 18, 2023 by mafig

Rare Best Cat Mom Posted June 18, 2023 #316 Share Posted June 18, 2023 Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and opinions, @morpheusofthesea. When is the next cruise for you two? And which ship? We're not on again until a YC Seaside sailing in early September (if the weather does not alter our plans). We're hoping that the summer crowds have lessened a bit by then.

God-willing in 3 weeks on the Seascape again, same cabin. Was advised by present staff that most of them will be gone as their contracts are expiring. They do not know where they will be assigned. All new staff by mid July, just when we board. One does not need to be a seer to foresee much more interloping in the YC as the number one pool attendant who catches the most will be gone and the others could care less. Rare Best Cat Mom Posted June 18, 2023 #318 Share Posted June 18, 2023 It is unfortunate that the other crew in the YC don't care. I would think that they would at least realize that tips from the "real" YC passengers would be less -- and think with their wallets. Or maybe the interlopers are really good tippers?? That could only come from the B2Bers lined up against the wall in the luggage area in front of the facial recognition machines waiting impatiently to get back on board. Like everything else, everyone in line is oblivious to what is really holding up everyone else. I have an inquiring mind to know what is going on and I approach whoever is in charge and ask. The assembled masses in the terminal waiting to get on the ship do not come in contact with those leaving. I got out of line and tried videoing the "zeros", but DW forced me to erase the video as the sign posted "NO PHOTOS OR VIDEOS". As JAGR so aptly reminded us "She who must be obeyed". Rare morpheusofthesea Posted June 19, 2023 Author #324 Share Posted June 19, 2023 P.S. This is disconcerting. Chit chatting with the concierges, one concierge just came over from NCL, comparing the cost of suites. Totally disconcerting to those of us that book the top suites way in advance, this includes anyone booking any cabin in the YC. Even the concierge was aghast. On a previous cruise a passenger was able to bid on the Royal Suite and won the bid.. They paid a total, not in addition to, total for the Royal Suite $5,000. One can pay that for a regular deluxe YC suite.

Absolutely none of their business! JMO
