I did the same thing today.  I have the military OBC for our December 2024 cruise and I sent the info for my husband's shareholder OBC.

Originally, I tried to do it with my stock but I got an email telling me it isn't combinable.  They said if the other passenger has stock, they can add it for them.  That's when I sent the information for him and it was done immediately.

So, they did it 16 months out.

After all the help and answers here, I went ahead and submitted my form. They applied it to my Nov 2023 cruise. It looks like you still have to submit a separate form for every cruise though, because they didn’t credit my Oct 2024 cruise.

Yes for Share holder OBC you have to apply for each booked cruise.

If there are two people in a cabin and one has MOBC in their name, the other person has to have the shares in their name or in a shared account and they must apply in their name.

For example if I have the MOBC and own shares only in my name we can only get MOBC.

If I have MOBC, and my wife has the shares in her name or in a joint account that lists her name then she can apply for the SOBC and we get both.

Unfortunately, I am now sailing solo so I can only claim one or the other. The good news is that I have both for 4 out of 5 cruises booked through October 2024.

You have to submit the form for each cruise for the shareholder credit.

We have never had an issue getting the shareholder benefits added to our booking shortly after booking it, usually when they are initially released to the public.

Can you please explain how the shareholder benefits work? From what I’ve been reading on this thread, it sounds like we can get obc if we have or buy CCL stock?

How do you claim the obc? Is it too late to claim after booking and paid in full? TIA

There are a couple of things on the application form (not required to use the form when providing all of the necessary info) that Ken provided that Princess does not enforce.

* It’s a simple credit to your onboard account from which all debits are deducted including gratuities & have read casino credits.

* Since requiring prepaying for tours began several years Princess has allowed applying for SOBC when booking a cruise. I’ve had it issued more than 2 years in advance. However, I’ve read for those in the UK and possibly Australia they enforce the 3 month limit to apply.

Does anyone have any recent experiences to share about the possibility of one person getting MOBC and the other person in the same cabin getting SOBC?

Our 2025 cruise had about a 10% fare reduction so we had our TA check about refaring. We booked before the 6/29 change resulting in SOBC and MOBC not being combinable for bookings after that date. Currently I have MOBC and my wife has SOBC which Princess said she’d lose the $250 SOBC by refaring our cruise. Our TA contacted her PCL sales rep who sent their inter office memo stating the following which does not address whether one can get MOBC and the other SOBC which if I recall correctly some said they got both when in our situation. Any experiences either way would be greatly appreciated because if we lose SOBC that would offset the fare reduction.

Please note that effective on 8 a.m. PDT on June 29, 2023 for all voyages departing after September 12, 2023, Shareholder and Military Onboard Credits have the following policy changes:

• The Shareholder and Military OBC will no longer be combinable with each other.

• The Military OBC will be non-refundable.

• The Shareholder OBC is currently and will remain non-refundable.

Yes if Military OBC is in your name, She just needs to resubmit her request for Share Holder OBC  making sure that the shares are in her name or in a shared account that includes her name. After the change in the cruise.  Should not be a problem.

The problems occur if one person applies for both.

Thanks…that’s what I thought…have you, or anyone else been able to get SOBC reapplied after it was canceled?

We jointly own the shares however two CSRs & our TA’s sales rep insists that by refaring that’s considered a booking after 6/29 & based on their inter office memo SOBC & MOBC are based upon per cabin and not per person even though the memo does not state it.

If anyone has their policy in writing that one can get SOBC & the other MOBC in the same cabin would appreciate seeing it. I’m considering emailing the shareholder benefit section prior to refaring to get their advice.

If we refare & lose her SOBC and cannot get it reapplied it’s not cost effective to refare.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for or not.  This was in an email from Princess Cruises on 29 June  with "Important Update From Princess"

For guests eligible for both the Shareholder and Military OBCs, each guest must now choose which OBC they would like to book; these two OBC will not be combinable with each other. This will not affect your onboard credit on your current booking with us, only future bookings.

Please note that effective today June 29, 2023, all voyages departing after September 12, 2023, will have the following policy changes to Shareholder and Military Onboard Credit:

The Shareholder and Military OBC will no longer be combinable with each other.

The Military OBC will be non-refundable.

The Shareholder OBC will remain non-refundable.

For us, anytime we have refared, the SOBC has definitely dropped off that booking and I'm sure we lose any promotions (i.e specialty dinner or specific OBC) tied into that booking at the time we made it.  Our TA lets us know that the SOBC has dropped off the booking after she processes the refare and we would send Princess another request to add back the SOBC. Up to 29 June when the notice of this change came out,  we have not had any problem having the SOBC re added to our cruises. We also consider the cost of any promotions when asking for a refare.  We have $400 of excursion credit on several of our upcoming bookings so it would have to be a big drop in price before we would give up the excursions credit and any specialty dinners etc.

We will have cruises starting in Sept where we will know for sure how they are handling this change for MOBC and SOBC.

Got it for a cruise next Feb that was booked in August.  Which I believe was after the implementation date for cruises after September 12.

Does that mean that 2 unrelated passengers EACH receive OBC for shareholder?

It is allowed for both to have military.

In the Shareholder Benefit link I posted at #484, here are the listed restrictions for the SOBC.

Since when is it not good for gratuities?  And what does “charges” mean?  Isn’t everything charged to your folio?

Guess I missed post #484

Thanks

Good questions of which I have no answers since we usually spend all of our MOBC and SOBC to pre-book excursions prior to the cruise.

Princess has always said that shareholder and veterns OBC cannot be used for gratuities so that language has not changed.  In practice their system does not distinguish with how it is used, only apply it to the totals on the bill.  Time will tell if they actually change their shipboard system to track and limit the application.

That statement has been there since I got my shares in 2010 but being a simple credit to onboard accounts it’s used for any type of spending although I have no casino experiences.

To all that replied.  I was so confused since every time I've filed for and credited SOBC, gratuities have always been deducted.  I should learn to read the fine print.

I "knew" (aka Sheldon Cooper) that it was "not" to be used in the casino (please do not reply....rhetorical statement).

Glad I "used" all of my last SOBC for a visit to the Medical Center.  Hopefully, I will have it reimbursed through insurance without interest for the few months I have to wait.

No. The military is per person; the shareholder is per cabin. There is a limit of one shareholder credit per cabin. 🙂
