Update - I just talked to my PCC and she said that I am able to add HIA to my casino deal (free cabin) cruise in mid-Sept.  About a week ago I received an email offering this for $50 per person per day.  I did not book it yet, but she assured me that I could.

Oh my - I've tried again as recently as yesterday to be told no from a Supervisor. In fact, that Supervisor offered me the Mariner desk number so I could have them remove me from promotional emails when I asked why I was getting offers that were not valid. Ugh

It was a free casino deal that I upgraded through Club Orange, so it does have some actual $$ on it.

My PCC won't even return my calls or emails, so I'd love to have a good one. 😃

Bottled water is NOT included. I said to a bartender, "can I have a bottle of water?" and he gave it to me but didn't let me know that it wasn't included in my package. I guess you have to memorize all of the drinks included. I would have been happy with a glass of water. I guess I just assumed that with a $50/per day per person drinks package, that WATER was included. Silly me! 🙂

We are prepping for a $0 cruise. I don't know if this is considered casino rate (we do not frequent the casino and haven't been on any cruise prior to booking this for YEARS). I had mixed ability to get the HIA - one day it was available on the website, I hesitated, then it was unavailable... available again... I went to talk to hubby... unavailable. Literallly said "not available for your booking." Next day available again and I GRABBED IT FAST!

It is SO strange and annoying. I'm sure it was just a glitchy website but maybe it was a glitch that benefitted us. Just keep checking!

(oh, and this was over a course of about 10 days!)

Are you still trying to get HIA added? Someone a thread about the latest app update said they were able to add it now using the app, when the website said it was unavailable. I would link to the thread, but not sure how .. it's the one tracking all the Hal Navigator app updates on page 1.

You may have been incorrectly charged.  From the T&Cs:

 

"All Packages include bottled water up to 400ML or less. All other waters are excluded from all packages. "

For what it's worth, the website won't let me add HIA, but the app will. The maddening thing is that the app is just a pass through to the website's booking flow.

 

I don't even want it all. I'm getting sucked into the vortex of app nonsense because of this forum.

And I've lost the ability to properly get my thoughts from my brain to the keyboard - I typed "website" when I meant "app." @rodndonna clearly said app. 🙄

I had the same issue where I could add it on my app, but not on the website.  So I added it to my cart in the app.  Then logged into the website and I could now see it in my cart from the website.

Let us know if you have better luck with the app. I'm really curious because you are still the only case where I have heard adding HIA has been denied. They do make that vague statement "available for most fare types" but to date have not found a fare type that it did not apply to except for yours ..(including free cabin Casino rates)  😒

 

I am wondering if perhaps they are changing the rules on what codes it can be added to.

Tried 4 times to add via the app, but all ended w/me coming back here once again to pout...😪

I see it, I click it, I giddily take the ride to the other screen and I click "upgrade now" then things flash before my eyes and I feel the excitement as little blue swirly things circle the screen. Being taken to the website, I log in for the 3rd time where I once again am denied. 😞

Then I call in, speak w/someone who cheerfully says "sure I'd be happy to add that for you" after the obligatory "I see you're a 4* Mariner, thank you for your loyalty" and then puts me on hold for some time (you know where this is headed) to say they've added their supervisor, who then explains it can't be added because it's not combinable with my rate. If I want to refare to the current rate, they'd be happy to add it and are not able to override it.

Maybe they are cracking down on not adding it when the rate code isn't combinable, but there are so many people who seem to get it done anyway after reaching out, that I seem to be the HAL test study on how to say no and stand firm. Ugh...

Screenshot is from this morning, same result as last nights 3 attempts.

If the math didn't work so well, I'd let it go, but on this one, it just makes sense. Maybe if I had a good PCC, they'd be able to help, but we already know mine is the worst, so still wishing for a different experience there, too.

I rec'd several 500 errors when looking at our upcoming booking today. That usually means someone is working on a server or subsystem.

 

Never got the sad faces. I would welcome them.

The only sad faces I've gotten are my own ... 🙄Were I new to HAL and going through this, I'd likely be a short-timer.

Try clearing your cookies, or accessing the HAL website from your browser's incognito mode. I've also  seen the same error you screenshot, but HIA shows up available to purchase about 80% of the time.

Just checking and please don’t beat me for asking - are you on a collectors cruise or a B2B.  If you are on a B2B by any chance is one of the segments less than 7 days?  If it is HIA is not available.  I was on a B2B2B and HIA was not available on the first on as it was 5 days.

 

I never knew that until I hit it.  

 

Probably not part of your dilemma but I thought I would mention it in case.

Thanks for asking - both are no. It is Nov 26 - Dec 10, single booking, not Collector.

They all tell me it's because of the deeply discounted rate I got, the code for the rate is not combinable w/other discounts, yet I was able to add CO.

Appreciate you and everyone else continuing to follow up and ask. Maybe someone will eventually have a name they can provide who can override the code. 🤔

Thanks - did all that, then had to explain to my husband why the screen was dark and what incognito mode was, lol.

Did you get other perks within that deeply discounted rate or is it just a deeply discounted fare?

 

A free cabin is about as much of a "discount" as you can get, and even with those, we (and others) have been able to add HIA. I really don't get the stance "you gave us so little money for this cruise, we have decided we don't want more of your money by selling you HIA". It is a weird stance ..🤔

 

Maybe your particular cruise has some other overriding element that disallows HIA.

 

The mystery continues ........
