Yeah - I wrote back and said that based on feedback on social media boards, I politely disagreed with their assumption that guests who do not vape feel that allowing vaping will not impact negatively their experience.

Yes, I'd love to know where that "overall guest feedback" came from they cite.

Iain does vapes and I have to say I have never smelled anything.    May be it is that  he smokes Juul's that don't emit much water vapor unlike some of those that belch out clouds.

Not being confrontational but wondering if other's can smell Vape cigarettes.  I am very sensative to smells and tell you cheap men's cologne and perfume really bothers me as well as neighbors that but those fabric softeners with scents in their dryer and wafts up to my open windows.

I have definitely been around vapes that smell awful, a sort of sweet, fruity smell. In general, I find being around them less than pleasant and would avoid it for that reason alone as I would too much cologne.

Unlike cologne though, there is concern is the health risks of exposure to the vapor emitted. Studies are not yet conclusive but look how long it took to get there with cigarette smoking. Studies report respiratory issues for those exposed and that the vapor emitted contains not only nicotine but also heavy metals.

If there is a need to create an indoor vaping space, I'd suggest that it be in a dedicated area where it will not affect other passengers rather than a shared space like the casino. Considering that only 8% of American adults use vapes, there is no doubt that the majority of passengers do not vape or have any desire to be exposed to vaping.  Making the casino the "vaping lounge" makes it impossible for us to enjoy that space.

At a time when Royal Caribbean is sending me emails asking me to come enjoy their new non-smoking casino floors, I find this step from Celebrity really puzzling.

....(Last Updated: January, 2021),,,,

I don't remember the sentence about the Casino, though.  And I had read it, the whole thing, before.  I think they may not have updated the "Last Updated" part.

As someone whose last casino 'bill' was in excess of $21k before a royal flush paid it down half, I guess DH & I 'ranked' a phone call. My take is that the calls are just to let people vent and they are going to allow vaping. Although I WAS assured it is currently ONLY a test on 2 ships and the testing period should end by the time of my cruise in September.

I have asthma. I loathe real cigs and think vapers are marginally better, however... I don't like ANY one breathing anything into my face at a poker table.   A non-stop talker with bad breath at my elbow counts. The constant repeated exhalation, as if the vape is the practice for a future ventilator. The BIG puff of trailing tendrils of 'vape' enveloping the entire table, even with a polite vaper who tries to control where it goes.

So... I guess if I continue to play cards and such a person decides to play by the new rules, I have to adjust. Which means going back to the old necklace fan to push air up away from my face, and keeping a mini handheld to redirect the clouds back towards the offender. Or go to Effy.

But... this also means those suite cabins on Carnival without airfare required to get to port are starting to look similar, if not MORE appealing. Because I hear that the larger Carnival ships are dedicating non-smoking space.  When the BCC free Aqua classes dry up, we will probably cut back from 3-4 Celebrity cruises per year to one or none.

As far as the experience not affecting anyone NOW, it is simply because the smokers/vapers don't know they can indulge. YET.

I wonder if the people on the Equinox and Eclipse realized when they booked this cruise that they would be part of this trial?

I doubt it.

I sent my 2nd email to Celebrity asking how we'll know when and how will we know when they make a final decision on Vaping.
