CAS drink card (discounted cruise)

Yesterday I booked a cruise through CAS at a 20% discount.  Should I expect a drink card?  In 2019 I booked at the same discount and got a card, but then in 2021 I didn't (although I upgraded my cabin onboard so maybe the card didn't find me in my new cabin).  I like the card for the occasional soda and the bottled water.  Thank you.

like others have said, yes you are entitled to the drink card.  You're right, it's great for the water. I actually usually decline the free at sea drink package and just use the casino card.  It's never been a problem for me to just visit the one bar

No goof at all on your part...but Casinos at Sea should really fix that (there's prolly some other errors there as well)

this is actually not an error.  Jade and Pearl don't get drinks in the casino, as the chart suggests.  You get a drink card from booking thru CAS, regardless of your player's card level.  You're getting the drinks thru the drink card, not your player's card.

Sorry to hijack this post but do you actually have to be gambling to use the card or do you just go via the casino bar on the way to the theatre for example.  Also, presumably since you are not paying for the drink do you tip a couple of bucks per drink?

no, you don't have to actually be playing.  You can stop by the bar.  While not required, you can tip whatever you feel like when you order.

The reason I asked if everyone gets the drink card is because our last cruise we booked with CAS and our casino cards were in our cabin but no drink card. We are booked with CAS for our cruise in October. So I guess that cruise I will go and ask about drink card at the casino when I board,

Hmmm....surprised they gave you players card without a drink card attached🤔

Our last few cruises they encouraged non-CAS cruisers to just use their room keycard to play.  The only ones who had players cards were those of us who had drink cards attached.  For reference, my spouse had a Jade card with the standard drink card.  I had my Ruby Tier card with Ultra drink card attached.

I really did goof with that reply! 🙃😉

No goof. If you show up on a cruise not booked through the casino and start gambling, you do not get free drinks like in Vegas. You need to earn enough points to qualify. Once you qualify, there are levels of drink cards that you get at each tier.

We are both Jade. We have drink package but would love to have the drink card for water and other stuff that you don't get with the drink package.  I don't gamble too much as every time I spend too much time in casino I get sick from the smoke and end up with upper respiratory infections when I come home. I like the casino on Bliss that had smokers in a glass enclosed section. Well hopefully we can get the drink cards in October. I just thought we did not qualify since we were Jade. Thanks for the info

To clarify, the reason my spouse has a Jade card with drink card attached is because he is a guest of the casino in a CAS comped room.

There are different levels of CAS booked cruises.  In the past, I know they gave the CAS drink card if you were booked using a certificate from a land based casino.   As far as I know, they still do.

Then there are some who call CAS and get a discount on their cruise.  (See post #2 above).  It appears they still get the drink card.

As for those that do not book their cruise through CAS, I would think they would have to have Tier status onboard the ship.  (See post #4 above)

Yes we booked with CAS and received discount on the cruise. So fingers crossed and maybe we can get the drink card

Just to be sure you can always call CAS and based on your reservation they can tell you if you are entitled to drinks in the Casino. My guess is that you will have it. Frankly the physical drink card is more for decoration than anything else. Anything you are entiled to will be tied to your cabin card. I have never seen anyone use their drink card for anything more than hanging from their bungee cord/chain 😃

I'm not sure this is true.  I always use my drink card.  It's not tied to your cabin card.  I know because whenever a server forgets to use my drink card, the charge shows up on my account and I have to go down to guest services and have it removed.  To avoid this, I just go over to the bar myself rather than use the servers in the casino

Well I *am* sure it's true... at least for me. I have *never* been asked for my drink card and anytime I have offered it the server would say they need my cabin card. (and never took the drink card) Never once have I been charged  for a drink I was entiled to.

do you also have the free at sea drink package and/or qualify for drinks based on your CAS player's card?  If you're just a Jade player (like myself), and only have the CAS drink card, that card is not coded to your cabin key.

Nope..no free at sea drink package (we don't drink enough to make it worthwhile for us) Even in the Casino we only get an occasional drink as well. Definitely not high rollers as our usual comp. for a cabin is an inside which we upgrade to a balcony. Our first cruise since the start of Covid was just this past May on Prima (We were also Jade) and once again were never asked for our drink card and never was charged. Between myself and my wife we probably had about 8 drinks total on a Bermuda cruise.

I'm very positive that @dbrown84 is correct.

No FAS drink package? then gotta use and hold on to the CAS drink card and you are limited to that one bar.

Have a drink package?, then the waiters always ask for your key card and wave away the green CAS drink card.....which, I suppose, is to minimize the casino's carrying cost of you being a player.
