LIVE: 🗽 Lady Liberty 🗽 Heads North 9/2 - 9/7/23

Recommended Posts

Finally made it home.  Disembark was a breeze.  Our number was called early (around 8am) and we were at the car & on our way by 8:15.

Picked up the dogs about 2:45.  We are getting settled back in and getting some laundry started.

Traffic was not nearly as bad as it was on the way to the cruise.

Puppers are happy to be home!

We were on the same cruise! The crew and service were great,we really enjoyed it. Too bad you didn’t eat dinner in the MDR it was really very good, dinner service was top notch.

Aw to bad we couldn’t say hi.  We thought about heading to MDR a few times but just never made it or were pre occupied doing other things.  I agree I really enjoyed this cruise and wish it was longer.  Weather in the ports was great.  Little windy that day in Halifax but not terrible.

Here are some final thoughts to wrap up.

Parking: $30/day.  Pay by credit card when parking.  $150.  Dropped bags with porter first.  Garage was being used for handicapped.  Open air lot is a longer walk but not far.  The return to the car when we had the luggage was a bit more challenging with a few up and down curbs in the way.  They did have a shuttle bus running for this reason but we skipped it.

Embarking & Disembarking:  Both super fast & organized.  Did not stop moving in either process.  Embark scheduled time

was 11:30.  We arrived around 10:45 and walked right on the ship (on by 11).

Cabin:  This was a GTY assignment.  Junior Suite 1590 - As expected.  Cabin definitely showing some wear and tear but was clean and everything was in working order.  Room Steward took good care of us and always love towel animals.  Got a towel animal 4 out of 5 nights.  Pretty good.

The location is port side right in the middle

of the forward and mid elevators.  It’s under the smoking section of the pool deck.  That was a non - issue for us.  We did smell smoke at times but I don’t know if it was the deck above or the people next door who were smoking on their balcony.  Either way it wasn’t frequent or potent enough to matter to us more than just a small annoyance.

WindJammer:  it is what it is - a busy buffet.  Atmosphere is not great with people swarming all over but the food was good overall.  Sure, There’s always some

items there that are a miss but I could always find something decent.  The beef & olive stew with steamed rice was a standout for me.  I really enjoyed that.  Fries were always good & steamed veggies too.  DW had good luck at the carving station.  If i was expecting a higher class of meals I would have booked the dining package.  We just needed a break from the dining package as we have had unlimited or some type of package for a bunch of cruises in a row.

Johnny Rockets:  Approx $15/each & order as much as you like.  Was not busy at all - only a few tables at around 6:30.

Burgers were great (Rocket Double and Smokehouse ).  DW liked the chili.  Chocolate shake was good.  Hadn’t had JR in a long time.  Good change up.  Service exceptional.

Bar Service:  Antonio in the Viking Crown was a standout.  Others worth noting: Shine in the Pub and Kristine & Rex in schooner.

Stocking was an issue at times, in particular, Buffalo Trace and Tito’s was out in certain bars.  San Pelligrino was the same way.  Usually there was a different bar that had what I was looking for though.

Entertainment:  Typically we are not people that attend any shows & we stepped out of our comfort zone on this cruise by going to the comedy headliner ( Scott Wyler), the juggler/comedian show and the production show - In the air.   We liked them all but the Juggler (Adam Kario) was the standout for me and most entertaining.

Timmy Peet - guitarist/singer in the Pub & Son Del Rio in Boleros were the 2 best music options.

I was not a fan of the piano player in Schooner.

Casino:  It took all the money.  Extremely smokey to the point it limited my casino time significantly.  I mainly would have played video blackjack/poker machines but there were none of those in the non smoking section.

We saw a woman win over $15,000 on a slot machine.  Just wished it was me since it was the machine next to the one I randomly chose to play earlier that day. 😞

Ports/Itinerary:  As you know, this was booked as a Bermuda cruise but because of the hurricane it was diverted to a NE/CA cruise.  For us, we have been wanting to book a NE/CA itinerary anyway so this change was welcomed.

Kinda of made it more exciting as a last minute surprise.

Portland, ME:  What’s not to like?  Lots of breweries, lobster rolls & seafood, beautiful scenery.  Weather was awesome.  Highlight was the lobster roll - still thinking about how good that was!  Downside was that we only had until 2:30 here.

Halifax, Nova Scotia:  Loved the waterfront  boardwalk & Peggy’s Cove.

I mentioned during the review how horrible the bus ride portion of the tour was but Peggy’s Cove itself was a standout.   ext time I would like to see Titanic artifacts at the Maritime Museum.  Soo many bar/restaurant options here that are all waterfront.

We would love to come back to both of these ports.

Hopefully you left the ship shipshape.  😁.

Safe travels back home.

Heading to CL now via Amtrak and Uber/Lyft.

Thx!  I only had 5 nights & I wish our journey was longer.  I kept her in good condition & got the bartenders nice & warmed up for you.  Really wish I was on the B2B!
