Tips charged separately when you buy drink package?

We just noticed the wording specifying that tips are charged separately when you purchase

the drink package with Celebrity, we have always cruised with the all inclusive, tips have

traditionally been included, has anyone else noticed or have had to pay additionally?

The wording is incorrect and misleading. Tips are not charged separately unless you go over the price point of your package. For example, if you drink cost two dollars more than the price allotment, they will charge for the tip on the two dollars not the total price of the drink.

Tips are no longer included in the AI package.  I just found this out when I recently booked.

If you buy a beverage package X will charge you 20% gratuity at the time you purchase the package. As long as you stay within the limit of the package there is no additional charge when you consume the drink.  If the drink is over the per drink cost limit $10 or $17 depending on your package you pay the overage plus 20% gratuity.  Limits are a little higher where VAT is charged.

If you purchase the package separately (i.e. book Cruise Only then for whatever reason purchase a package) you are charged the package price + 20%. If you book the All Included rate the additional 20% is not charged to you.

There is a very subtle difference here and you are both correct.

When you by the package, you pay package + 20% gratuity.

When you purchase as part of AI, the 20% gratuity is bundled into the price of the AI vs being called out separately.

Either way, Celebrity is getting their 20%.

And either way you will not be charged an extra 20% unless you order something above the package limit.  In that case you will be charged 20% on the difference.
