cowpokes Posted November 7, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2023 Sailing on repositioning Celebrity Solstice April 25, 2024. Would you recommend Outrigger Reef or Outrigger Waikiki for 2 nights pre cruise.
rvlandandsea Posted November 7, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2023 Did same repositioning cruise back in 2015 and stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki pre cruise. Loved the location. Walked everywhere. Convenient to many restaurants and bars with great beach views. It was for one night only as we had spent a week in Hawaii a few years before.
Rare markeb Posted November 7, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 7, 2023 I'd recommend asking on the Hawaii board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/37-hawaii/ You'll probably get better answers. I can't remember which one is which, honestly, and there's always been some variation in the Outriggers beyond location.

Ditto…if you have the opportunity, Duke’s in the hotel has delicious food. We did the buffet after the Diamond Head hike.

They're only a relaxed 10min walk or 5min power walk apart
Rare DaKahuna Posted November 7, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2023 The Outrigger Reef is right on the beach. i took a picture of it from our hotel balcony this morning and I will post it if you would like when I get back to the room.
JLMcruise Posted November 7, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2023 (edited) Either isn't bad but if you select Outrigger Reef do not get a city view room on the street - very noisy! We got upgraded to a suite on our second stay in October - the room was GREAT. The restaurant is open air and has a great view. Go for lunch - the menu is the same as dinner and you can easily sit by the water. Great views. Sunset is very popular there. There is an ABC store right in the hotel! We were there on October 26th - have fun with your travels and don't drink to much rum😂 We were on the Panama Canal cruise with you!

Thank you. Remember you from your post about our cruise. We’re here in Honolulu for a few days of sun and food! Arrived last night and depart on the 13th. No tum yet but that may change once I get back from ‘honey do’s’ later today.
Crazy planning mom Posted November 7, 2023 #10 Share Posted November 7, 2023 We had an Oceanfront room at the Reef. It was in much less busy crowded area than the Outrigger Waikiki. We enjoyed eating at Duke's there but after all the crowds was glad we were staying at the Reef.

Convenience to restaurants and bars isn't an issue really. 59 minutes ago, JLMcruise said: Either isn't bad but if you select Outrigger Reef do not get a city view room on the street - very noisy! Are you sure you don't mean the Outrigger Waikiki? The City View rooms at the OWB are on Kalakaua Blvd, the busiest street in Waikiki. In general we find the Reef area much quieter than the OWB. The Reef also has Monkeypod Kitchen, which is a much better restaurant than Duke's.
LouChamp Posted November 7, 2023 #12 Share Posted November 7, 2023 Aloha. As has been previously posted any rooms facing Kalakaua will be noisy. Either hotel is fine. Dukes is more of a tourist trap than monkeypod and is actually based in California. They share a location with Hula Grill which is essentially the same. They are all fun. Enjoy! WorldTourPrincess Posted March 27 #13 Share Posted March 27 We always stay at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort! Right on the beach, gorgeous views, directly across from shopping, and Dukes is in the hotel. Love Dukes! The fish is always so good!! Will be going back again this summer. Highly recommend!
