Mariettte Posted November 11, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2023 It's not in my Gifts & Gear either- I can't see any way to buy OBC. Maybe because my cruise (and I) are based in Australia?

Looked 2x yesterday & just now. I've got gifts, laundry & apparel. Nothing else. I'm in the US & taking a Caribbean cruise. I do have $47 OBC left from what I started with (used rest on excursions, drinks upgrade & Eden--not sure why we had so much this time but sure enjoyed it!) Otherwise I guess you will have to call. Edited November 11, 2023 by Jim_Iain

I logged in, clicked on your link & it still made me enter my reservation info. It does appear to allow me to do it...but it is odd how different it looks than when I have purchased other things for this cruise!

You say you’ve purchased many things before. You mean in the gifts category or excursions, dining etc?

The gift category is completely separate from the cruise planner. It is designed for *other* people to purchase gifts for friends. It is not designed to work like the cruise planner. For example, when buying gifts you must manually enter your credit card and other information. You can purchase gifts for yourself but that is not the primary purchase. I’m on Beyond next week in cabin 32000 and I like Veuve Clicquot champagne. 🙂

Unless you’re dealing with a currency exchange issue (and maybe even then), or a bonus situation, open an AMEX High Yield savings account (4.3% today), deposit what you were going to spend on OBC, use your AMEX on the cruise, and YOU make money off your money (and get points). Not the cruise line!

Not the cruise line! I also called in and bought $500 worth of OBC for next month (which I know I’ll use anyway) to take advantage of an Amex offer of a bunch of bonus points. Sure enough it worked and it was money I would have spent anyhow
