Going with a few guests that have mobility issues, Can our driver drop us off right at the tent?  I've watched a few YouTube videos and cannot tell....  The area looks tight...    Thx....

The area is tight, but your driver should be able to get fairly close. When we embarked in October, the tent was located where the black mark is. Make sure you take your luggage to the YC tent!

Went in the YC from Brooklyn end of October. If your driver takes the road marked Clinton Warf past the front of the terminal get out at the last turn left. Tent was on the right in front of terminal. They escorted us to the YC waiting area which was a long walk however right inside the terminal was a desk to request wheelchair assistance.

For my November 13th cruise the tent was the last Bus parking spot closest to the ship one row over from what is pictured in post #2. There were no buses when my Uber arrived and he took us right up to the tent. Actually what I said "See the tent, that's where you can drop us".

Now if there are buses you might not see the tent.

We were there just last week and yes-you can be dropped off right in front. the lone was fairly long when we were there so we just walked as it was only a few steps. The way to go is what Brighton lone said-pull in the middle where the buses are and go to the end and you're right there!

We got there at noon and were on the ship in minutes! easiest embarkation ever!!

This is what I would suggest:

If you have folks with mobility issues, you can have the driver drop them off directly in front of the "Yacht Club Entrance" to the terminal.  Then have the driver proceed to the Yacht Club Tent where one of you can check in all the luggage.  The distance from the YC Tent to the YC Entrance to the terminal is not really awfully long but if someone really has a hard time walking it might be best to drop them off right at the YC entrance.

Also, yes, as soon as you enter the terminal there is an area to the left for "Wheelchair assistance".  However, if you go over there your name is put on a list and when there is a chair and an available pusher you will be wheeled to check-in and board the ship.  I did first stop by the "wheelchair assistance" area but when I saw how they operated, I proceeded to walk myself directly to the YC Check-in Room!  What I suggest is to make the short walk from the entrance to the terminal to the YC Check-in area.  Once in the Check-In area there will be a senior butler from the ship and just tell him that you need a wheelchair and you'll have one with a pusher from the ship with no wait and no problem.

I have difficulty walking long distances (and actually rent and use a rollator while onboard the ship as the Meraviglia is a pretty long ship) but I easily made the walk from the YC Luggage Tent to the YC Check-in inside the terminal.

Now as a point of reference on my first cruise in late May I did not drop my bags at the tent, just gave it to a porter with tip. Those bags arrived in my cabin before I did that cruise (in cabin 1:30ish) and on my November cruise giving my bags in at the tent I didn't get them until almost 5 pm.

So no eal worry if you have mobility issues and hand them to a standard porter. Of course, this could also be dependant on the individual departure day as well so YMMV!

Interesting....was the May cruise "gen pop" luggage or YC tent?

We're going on an 11 day cruise in May, and since there is no "laundry perk" I was thinking of bringing a regular suitcase (it's normally just a carry-on each).  I'm not concerned about late delivery...but of luggage getting lost.

How long is the walk from the tent to the YC entrance? In terms of minutes...not miles...lol

Both cruises YC.
Not long, timing is difficult due to the "traffic control". Port workers enforce the use of crosswalks and allow crossing of traffic lanes at crosswalks only. Phyiscally bar people from "jay walking" (Welcome to NYC). The crowds build up sometimes before they allow pedestrians to cross. It is a very short walk as seen on the above picture. 5 minutes most again pending on crowding and traffic movement.

Thanks....we'll probaby do the direct entrance with our carry-ons.  A few extra "undies" won't be hard to pack.  As a NYC native...I wear a lot of black (easy to recycle) and change th jewelry!

In October the tent was further to the left in that picture closer to white car.  How do. I recall?  Bunch of us in line and a bus pulled into the marked lines.  Driver got out and started taking our luggage onto carts since no staff there.

One guy was taking bags from near entrance over to the tent area for people who thought the curb was the place to go.  Wheelchair folks I would drop off by curb but keep bags.   A lot depends on the traffic people who merely just like yelling at everyone.
