Also, The Viking Daily already lists entertainment event in explorers lounge with the guitarist from 5:30-7:15 so it would seem odd to close it off for "private event" The guitarist plays on deck 7 of the explorers lounge, and it looks like we will be on deck 8 above them

WhereInTheWorldIsKarla Posted December 23, 2023 #53 Share Posted December 23, 2023 For those seeing the birds off the port side this morning, they were Atlantic Brown Boobies. There was also one Magnificent Frigate Bird for a short time. We will see many more Frigate birds as we get closer to the Panama Canal. These are seabirds and live at sea all year round except for nesting, when they go to a site (usually an island) that they use each year.

I forgot that the Explorer's Longe included deck 8. I've only considered deck 7 as the Explorer's Lounge...

Jim, do you have a suggestion for a space large enough for 80-90? Per Denise onboard the staff is having trouble figuring out where to hold our M&G after we depart LA. Given their mistakes so far I figure if we can suggest someplace it might be better. Only place I’ve come up with is the Theatre Edited December 23, 2023 by Clay Clayton

Actually, who are the lecturers and will they be changing throughout the four months?
stretchcruz Posted December 23, 2023 #57 Share Posted December 23, 2023 Have fun everyone!! I'm looking forward to following along. Clay, our Meet and Greet last month on the Star was in the Wintergarden. About 70 attended, plus officers, the CD, and vocalists. They sang for us. Most of us were standing but it worked.

makaha Posted December 23, 2023 #60 Share Posted December 23, 2023 Is it possible to post the pictures of the Senior Officers? We had friends on board that just got off today, who posted the last “board” of pictures…..just wanted to see if there were any changes.

We were on the Octantis last October and they had a lecture on sea birds. They have a gland in their head that removes the salt from their system.

cruising denise Posted December 24, 2023 #65 Share Posted December 24, 2023 Suggestions included doing the full M&G in midafternoon so as not to conflict with other events. Maybe in The Restaurant, though I'm not sure that is conducive to mingling. Torshavn would be too small. I think Wintergarden could certainly accommodate ~100 but they need to set up for tea at 4, so we'd prob have to be done by 3 latest. Torshavn too small for our group. We had GREAT attendance, all the ship's officers were there, the Captain gave a little welcome speech, they served hors d'ouvres and cocktails, it was really wonderful. After all the initial scheduling confusion. I will post pix later or tomorrow but the limits on devices with wifi means I can't be on the computer and use my phone (since DH needs one of our connections, too!). We had ours for the WC in Wintergarden. It was a very nice space and comfortably accommodated a lot of people. I just can’t remember what time it was, because you are right, they would have to start setting up for tea at about 3.

Thank you. Sony a7R V with a 70-200 f.2.8 lens and a 1.4 teleconverter. Wanted to bring my 200-600mm, but it’s just too big with everything else I wanted/needed to bring plus I usually use it with a tripod (harder to hand shoot). 4

cruising denise Posted December 24, 2023 #70 Share Posted December 24, 2023 Eddie and Denise's blog is live. We were a bit delayed in getting up and running, but it's up now. For future world cruisers, I plan to include a section at the bottom reviewing the shore excursion we took, and giving each one a subjective rating 1-5, with some extra details so future cruisers have some additional insights. https://eddieanddeniseworldcruise.blogspot.com/

Previous M&G attempts n Wintergarden were held at 6 which was perfect for us as that led to dinner by 7. But that might be too late for folks who like to eat earlier. deec Posted December 24, 2023 #72 Share Posted December 24, 2023 You are all so very lucky having Mike Seigal ( and his wife Wendy) as your resident historian!! His lecturer are very good! If he does a tour of the Bayeaux Tapestry from the staircase walls do participate. They are excellent company, try and have dinner with them! They are great escorts on tours too! Lucky to have Bruce as your CD too. Wait until you hear him play the piano! We were on his first Viking Cruise on the Jupiter. He was interviewed for a recent Viking promotion brochure on World Cruises. 1
