Top tier confirmed just over 1000 C&A on board so a lot of new cruisers. There are only 11 pinnacles Demographic - a lot and I mean a lot of Chinese/ oriental guests. The shops seem to be stocked with a far higher quality of goods - Marc Jacob’s handbags 👜, a very big selection of Kate Spades; and of course the 2nd hand LVs The Omega watch shop looked like it already was selling and the casino was quite busy at 11am. I assume you're in international waters if the casino is open. When we did the circumnavigation in 2020, just before shutdown, casino was closed a lot. Rare cruiselvr04 Posted January 22 #127 Share Posted January 22 I may have to encourage DH to bring a sports coat. He was just going to wear nice button downs for dress up night. Also good to know the Australia kids will be back in school the week we sail. We love kids but in smaller doses.

Rare little britain Posted January 23 Author #135 Share Posted January 23 (edited) Hobart, Tasmania We got a car rental from Hertz. Their office is about 20 mins walk from the ship dock in the centre of town. It was only £48 to hire the car for the day! And only £18 to fill it up with fuel ⛽️ before returning it. We drove 250km north and then south. Beautiful rolling hills, fields full of sheep, mellow yellow brick houses… I can’t quite put my finger on what it reminds me of! As we were docked overnight we of course went out for dinner .. why wouldn’t you? There is a fabulous selection of quality restaurants; easily accessible within 20 minutes walk; a vast selection of locally made wines and gins, the quality and the prices were amazingly cheap!! We love Tasmania! Edited January 23 by little britain
njkruzer Posted January 23 #136 Share Posted January 23 Glad you had a good day in Tasmania. We were there in late February/early March if I remember correctly, and it rained all day!
Rare little britain Posted January 24 Author #137 Share Posted January 24 The best thing about being overnight in port is that you get to see it again next day! Tribute to the 13,000 women and 2,000 children who were transported between 1803 and 1853 Lots of statues along the waterfront Classic architecture Salamanca - formerly warehouses now funky restaurants ( mount Wellington behind)

Rare little britain Posted January 25 Author #140 Share Posted January 25 When did they start charging for Danish pastries and croissants 🥐 in cafe 270 ?!?! I haven’t been on this class since 9/22 Admittedly they are twice the size but one can easily walk to café promenade and get them for free!

That’s the little Starbucks or whatever it is , Always a upcharge to my knowledge. If you are craving for a meat pie ,cafe 270 usually have them but you have to ask. Spectre used to be Pixals and it was always a lady.

Only about $1.50 but still….!!! DH did have a Scallop pie 🥧 ashore yesterday and enjoyed it! Edited January 25 by little britain

A friend went to Hobart a while ago and told her to try the scallop pie. She said she lived on them while she was there. She got a couple to bring back to Sydney for her boyfriend and they didn’t make it back to Sydney.

Rare little britain Posted January 26 Author #149 Share Posted January 26 Adelaide on Australia 🇦🇺 Day. We had asked several people what would be happening- some replied it’s business as usual/ others said it’s a big family event, shops will be shut as they all go home to thrown another prawn on the barbie…. So we booked a ships tour. Something we never do! It was a city tour then wine tasting up on the Adelaide Hills. I got it during a sale for about $65pp and used obc so it was free. It was ok - the wines weren’t the greatest but the countryside was stunning. The train into the city centre literally across the street from the ship. I wish we had stuck with going into the city by ourselves as we drove through it looked very busy but on the tour we saw parts of the city that we never would have seen on our own. You win some you lose some! When we got back to the ship there was a little festival going on at the yacht club nearby; music, stalls, crafts etc. Tonight is Australian music on board ( good thing we know the chorus to “Alice”! ) and then a balloon drop.
Chiliburn Posted January 26 #150 Share Posted January 26 (edited) A ship tour in Adelaide is a good choice,it’s spread out and I don’t know if there’s much in the way of private tours. Theres also a historic German village called Handorf up in the hills , that will be good for next time you are here. Dont forget the Pavlova tonight!
