Regal Princess OBC

I will have over $100 OBC when I get on the ship. I really don't know what I will be purchasing, since most everything I will want I will be getting with the Premier Package. If I didn't use any of the $100 OBC, do they apply that to my bill at the end, to subtract what I owe?

The OBC gets applied to anything for your on board folio. So, if you buy something in the shop, extra dining, shore excursion on board, spa.... the OBC is subtracted from the total you owe. It's possible you won't spend anything on board, and then they keep it, unless it's refundable OBC.

You could also go to the casino, play in a slot machine and then cash out, if that still works

Your on board account will start with a $100 credit. Any on board expense is added to your on board account as it occurs and nets against the credit balance. It's a simple debit/credit automatic system, expense by expense. If you still have a credit balance at the end of the cruise you will lose it if the OBC is non refundable. If it happens to be refundable OBC then you will receive a check in the mail for the balance 4 to 6 weeks after you disembark. If the refundable OBC balance is $25 or less then you can ask for the cash at passenger services on the final day.

You can easily spend $100 on a tour, in one of the shops, spa or casino. The only on board expenses that you can not charge to your on board account are Future Cruise Deposits. These are charged directly to your credit card.

Shoot, I was hoping to use our OBC for FCD's. Good to know.

Thank you ALL for your answers. I know I will be having the premier package, so I gather that this OBC will be applied to this, hopefully.

Nope. If you have the Premier Package that has nothing to do with using OBC. Check if it is "refundable" OBC. If so, they will just mail it to you a short while after your cruise if you don't use it for something. If it's "non-refundable" OBC then spend it on something onboard. Just "buy" something and it will automagically take your OBC as the payment. Heck, you can always buy a bottle of liquor to take home or some candy/snacks in the shop.

If you purchase the premier package pre-cruise, then you already paid for it and OBC isn't involved. However, if you wait and purchase an upgrade to premier onboard, then it is charged to your onboard folio and OBC can be used to pay for it.

Good point. I guess I was guilty of assuming the OP had, or would have, booked with the Premier package. You are entirely correct that upgrading to Premier onboard would make use of OBC. I should know better than to assume "facts" not in evidence.

OK, lets see if??? I understand this right. We will be cruising on the 25th of next month, or a month from yesterday. We were working on trying to get ALL information into the system last night, as we knew it needed to be done. I received confirmation from Princess this morning that everything as well as the "Premier Package" went through. Also our OBC went up $25 as well.  Actually, if there is nothing purchased on the ship, there won't be any bill.  Do we still lose OBC, or as someone mentioned it is mailed to us? The word REFUNDABLE has been mentioned more than one time in regard to OBC. How do I know if it is refundable?  In other words, if it is NOT refundable, than I should be using the OBC for something on the ship, right???

If you look on your Cruise Personalizer, Click on Payments, Scroll down, it'll list your OBC and whether or not it is refundable. There is as asterisk that shows what is nonrefundable.  However, if you book a Casino Comp Cruise, the deposit turns into Refundable OBC once the cruise begins and then it will be listed as Refundable on your Folio onboard.

Crookshanks, thanks for showing this to me. That really makes a lot of sense. I have all of this, but never paid attention to whether there was an astrick or not.

If worse comes to worse, get casino chips for your remaining balance-  you cannot 'cash' these in, but you can play a few hands of Blackjack using them and get back regular chips as/if you win.  Those can be cashed in for actual dollars.  I had $120 remaining credit on my last cruise.  Went to casino the last night at 10:00 pm, got playable chips for my credit and was lucky enough to leave with over $300 cash.

Don't worry about the OBC. Your on board account will state if it is refundable. It's very easy. $125 is not a large amount. One excursion will mostly use it up. #0 minutes on a slot  or table game will use it up and you could wind up with more then you started with.

If there are no astricks next to the line that shows the amount of money, then it is refundable. Like military and shareholders are no longer refundable.

I don't remember seeing "Please enjoy using these credits onboard as they are not refundable," on ALL of our emails that I received. The ONLY thing I noticed was that there were no astricks by the OBC amounts. I have TOLD all my group they have these OBC to spend on the ship,so hopefully this works. 🙂 We bought the Premier Package or the expensive one, and that SHOULD cover everything that we will be doing, as we don't do the casino, spa, etc. and if they are NOT going to refund it, then we DO need to spend it! 🙂

Refundable or non refundable will be shown on each person's on board account statement.

If you partake in Bingo or Deal or No Deal and the likes, these are also charges to your onboard account/OBC. There are plenty of ways to spend it. However, my last cruise on Celebrity I had several hundred dollars of non-refundable credit left after settling my onboard expenses. I went to the casino and tested a theory. I charged $100 to my casino account (or whatever it was called) at the slot machine. I played for a while. I was up. I was down. I was up, down, up and over my original $100. I cashed out at the casino cashier and received cash. I did this for the remainder of my non-refundable credit. I happened to come out just a little bit ahead. I have seen on other threads that the key to being able to cash it out is that you have to actually BET the entire amount. Not all at once, but over time. So sitting at the slot machines for awhile, up, down, up, down, etc, you end up actually betting quite a bit, even if your net gain is very little if anything at all. Even if you end up losing some of it, It's better than just leaving it unused in your account. Something is better than nothing. And it's fun.

I did check with my PVP, just to make sure "I" was telling the other 7 people who were with me, correctly. She did say the OBC that we have is ours, but it NEEDS to be spent, as will lose it, and I conveyed that to the other 7 as well. Even though we purchased the premium package, I have a feeling one way or another, well try to find something to spend it on. 🙂

We always get a few hundred OBC and usually spend it all while on board. We have premier but there are still things to spend it on. Not sure how long the cruise is but laundry is always an option. We also pay for pressing for our linen material clothing. Buy a bottle of wine at the package discount to keep in your cabin. Another thing we did on the last few cruises was buy our sunscreen and some other items we didn’t want to pack at the shops.  We have never left a ship with a zero balance even on the “all-inclusive” ships.
