Does MSC show the US Academy Awards (Oscars) on their ships?

We're going to be sailing on MSC starting Sunday, March 10th, which is the night of the US Academy Awards/Oscars (figured I'd be clear since it's an international cruise line). Does anyone know if MSC shows them in the theater and has any sort of activities for them? Some other cruise lines do, but not all.

Just as a FYI for anyone not familiar with MSC alcohol policy, no alcohol is allowed to be carried into or served in the theater.

So anyone attending any special  event or other entertainment in the theater, be prepared to go dry.

They don't carry WABC as a television station so they would have to pay to get the feed, so I would say no they won't show it or do anything about it.

The Oscars are broadcast in 200 countries worldwide, so they could get a feed if they wanted to (as other cruise lines do). I'm sure that they show the Super Bowl ,even though they don't carry the station that it's carried on that year.

So what do they do for the  Super Bowl? I'm sure they show that onboard.

They did air the Super Bowl on our Meraviglia sailing.  But it was not broadcast in the theater.  It was broadcast on large screen tv in pool area, at casino bar, and at Brass Anchor Pub if I recall correctly.  The folks sitting in front of me in the theater at the 10 pm am show we’re watching it in their cell phone while enjoying the live show in the theater!

AFAIK, not only alcohol but any drink (even a cocktail without alcohol or a soda) are accepted on theatre.

I will have dinner by 20:00 and spectacle by 22:30. After dinner it is too long to stay waiting in the theatre without something. I think I will stay somewhere, maybe in the atrium bar, and will go to the theatre without a long wait. I prefer not to be in the first seat rows instead of waiting too much

there are some news that are broadcasted world wide and I would bet MSC doesn't broadcast them.

I would say MSC just broadcast major events that can be followed without soundtrack or with a lot of noise. This is the case if they broadcast in the pool without sound or in the Sports bar with a lot of noise around.

I really do not understand an Oscar's without sound, for instance.

Furthermore I have glanced a lot of Daily planners and these were some broadcasted events in the Sports Bar:

- NFL

- Spanish football league

- Italian football league

- German football league

- English football league

- Cincinnati tennis master

- FIFA Football world cup (Qatar 2022)

I haven't seen (I do not say they do not broadcast, I just say I haven't seen all daily planners, so I haven't seen this) about basketball (nor NBA, nor Euroleague, nor FIBA world cup), Formula 1 or Moto GP.

About those events

- I bet if Cincinatti tennis master was broadcasted, they will do the same with all Grand Slams and all Master 100 (Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, US Open, Miami, Indian Wells, Roma, Montecarlo, Madrid, Montreal, Shanghai, Paris, etc...)

- About leagues (NFL and European football leagues) I have seen information in the daily planner but... just 1-2 matches per day. I do not know if they just broadcast 1-2 matches per day or they advise about those matches in the daily planner AND they broadcast as many as they can

- About the FIFA football world cup in Qatar I read several daily planners in a Grand Voyage MSC cruise. Each day they were in a different timezone and they were warning about different local times for match everyday. This is, if first match was by 18:00 in Qatar, it was by 16:00 in the ship, next day by 15:00, next day by 14:00 and so on because they were moving from Europe to America.

Another importan issue... in this kind of competitions, last matches of first round must be at the same time. I was wondering which match they will broadcast and... they announced both of them (I bet half of screens for one match, half for the other one. All fans will be interested in both ones to know which teams will clasify).

I will sail on a MSC Cruise in June. I was wondering what they will broadcast

- there will be no sports leagues (of any kind of them, of any sports, at least in North hemisphere)

- there will be no tennis (Wimbledon will start next week, but nothing that week)

- there will be Formula 1 on Sunday

- there will be Football eurocup Germany 2024 (with some days with two matches at the same time)

I hope they will broadcast these last events

I expand information.

I have seen Daily planner WITH and WITHOUT information about events in Sports Bar.

I have read some days with MotoGP, with Euro volley and with French league

so

NFL

Moto GP

Tennis, Grand Slam and Master 1000

Spanish football

Italian football

French football

German football

English football

FIFA World cup

Euro volley

I haven't read anything about basketball yet

Certainly all Euro matches will be shown, no matter which ship and where.

When I sailed in the Caribbean with MSC in 2019 they surprisingly failed to show Formula 1 as they could not get a signal there. As F1 is now more popular in the US maybe this has changed.

In June there is the T20 cricket World Cup in the US and West Indies. It probably is the sports highlight of 2024 on planet earth. But I do not trust MSC to be prepared for it😉
