Eggs Benedict have been available in Waterside for as long as I have been cruising Crystal, which is since 1995. In recent years, somebody with no taste decided to add the sauce and run it under the broiler! ACH!!!! So I order sauce on the side. Poached eggs have always been available.

Yes unless things have changed in Marketplace then Waterside is the only place to get Poached Eggs

Eggs Benedict aren’t my thing so no idea where you can enjoy them - @BWIVince is the Eggs Benedict fan I think

So does anyone know if you can get Eggs Benefit in the Marketplace egg station or buffet?

Everyone enjoying the discussion on BeefBar? 😂😂😂😉 - we’ve certainly touched on so many other topics in this thread

Ivi - the correct information, at the time, was discussed. The intent to charge and the systems of Crystal reflected a plan to charge $50 for subsequent visits

If it had not been the case Crystal would have corrected it immediately - and they did not. Crystal simply changed their position on this after a few days when they reviewed the issue following feedback

I am glad they changed their position

+1… I wasn’t sure the policy was even meant to be permanent anyway, and I thought it might just to be to help with the “launch rush”, but either way, as they’ve done several times recently, they quickly listened to feedback and adjusted their plans accordingly.  This is definitely trend at this point, and one that continues to give me a good feeling.

IME they’d used the broiler on the Benedicts for as long as I can remember — at least since the early 90’s.  😡 I have no idea what what that was about, but it was plain and simple culinary malpractice.

@KenzSailing recently tasked me with trying to find out if they continued to broil them, but I failed in that mission.  On my cruise this summer, I ordered a smoked salmon Benedict the first morning (with the sauce on the side to avoid the broiler problem) and the hollandaise was so out of whack, and the cruise was so short, that I didn’t order it again the rest of the cruise to limit my frustration.  There have been reports (especially from Symphony, of course) recently that the broiling may have stopped.  🤞 Hope springs eternal.

Anyhow I find it very good how Crystal clarified this. Either they never tried to charge for the Beef Bar or they have listened. In any case thanks Crystal ! I am happy to have three future cruises with you and considering to book some more…Not only because of the Beef Bar decision, but because I get the impression that you Crystal listen to us.

Ivi

Ivi,

That they do.  While they can't make everyone happy on each item it is clear to me that they listen and consider what they hear in decisions that are made.

Examples include Promenade Deck for new ships, bringing back the Casino, and even taking a few items from the Prego menu or similar to Prego and offering them at Waterside .They also read the social media.  By doing so they even see that all of us don't always agree either but it does provide a good sense what guests are thinking.

I am not sure when your next cruise is on Serenity. When you are on board see if the video from the World Cruise Q&A is still showing on the interactive TV. Anne Marie and I watched it while on Board Serenity in August and enjoyed it. A lot of good information and it is an example of the Senior team engaging, listening to guests while sharing their thoughts and why certain decisions were made. I've seen a lot of Q&A's on World Cruises we've been on and this was really good including the types of questions being asked and the responses provided.

Between this video and being fortunate to be on board when on a couple of cruises  the most senior people were on board I really felt good about the vision they have for the Crystal Product.

Just two other points.  I wish the old parent would have accepted the offer of Manfredi in December of 2021 but since they didn't and as painful as it was for them to take Crystal under with all that happened, in the end I believe we are so much better that Crystal has a completely new ownership with new approaches and a strong vision.  Again, wish it could have happened without impacting peoples lives.

The other thing I learned just speaking with the crew is many of them had not worked for other cruise lines or if they did it was far less time than at Crystal. For those who went to other lines with the vast majority returning in some ways they grew seeing from a crew perspective how different it was.

I do believe so many coming back reflects highly on themselves, their feeling for the guests and New Crystal.

In the meantime, looking forward to Beefbar.

How does this make the Marketplace better than Waterside? Is eggs benedict now available in the Marketplace? With the old company poached eggs were only available in Waterside.

Perhaps I am not remembering correctly. I’ll ask her to remind me what it is that she gets for breakfast at Marketplace that she enjoys more than in Waterside.

Any idea if the gap between Tastes closing and Beefbar opening will have some temporary offering?

We will find out next month whist onboard. A surprise culinary adventure!

So if I read all that correctly, to make up for the Tastes/Beefbar closure, they're making the following adjustments:

  • No Fees on additional alternative dining reservations
  • Churrascaria returning to Marketplace for dinner
  • Hot soup option being added to the Bistro during the day
  • "Waterside Grill" downstairs emulating the Trident and Scoops for lunch daily

Hopefully if I missed something someone can point it out, I was struggling a little with the format so I thought I'd try to summarize.

Overall, I think that's a good plan...  Given what they had to work with they're at least trying to backfill some of what's missing.  I had a feeling they were going to pull Marketplace back into the dinner business temporarily to offset the lost capacity.

Well, I think that all sounds jolly good.
In fact, can I suggest that, whilst we are about it, we raise a considerable clamour (with a 'u'....) for those changes to be permanent?!

(Crystal, are you listening...? 😎)

Oh that it was a permanent addition to the options - it seems the specialist kitchen equipment may still be in place

We really enjoyed dining at Churrascaria

Let me be the first of the bunch who will pooh pooh that suggestion with the inevitable “there’s not enough crew to do that” comment

They'll be using the crew freed up by having no Tastes operating to implement all these temporary arrangements

But while we’re hoping I put my support behind a return of Churrascaria - even if it were only as a pop up operating a few times each cruise maybe?

It has been popping up once per cruise as a lunchtime speciality buffet. Just like the Asian and the Mediterranean, it’s listed on the back page of Reflections.

It looks interesting - I’m certainly looking forward to giving it a try - me I’m leaning towards the Reef and Leaf side of the menu

Here’s some photos of dishes served at the NYC launch

As we sail on the 9-18 Fort Lauderdale/Bridgetown cruise, these pictures just add to the pain of missing out on BeefBar, lol.  Everything looks delicious and I’m sure it will be.  We’ll just have to suffer by dining at any of the still open options.  Might even suffer enough to lose weight for the first time on a cruise.  (Tongue stuck tightly in cheek)

Is it your understanding that we are going to loose Trident and Scoops only during construction, or is Beefbar going to incorporate their space into its dining/kitchen operation?

For both Symphony and Serenity?

It is my definite understanding that closure will only be temporary - Trident and Scoops live on and Tastes becomes Beefbar going forward
