Of course there will be people that eat in them day and night for every day of the cruise but they will be very much the exception. I have no issue with the casual dining offerings tbh. I will likely eat in Alfredo's once and the sushi bar once or twice and more than happy to pay for the second. Exactly! Each once, maybe twice. Works for us.

Not all restaurants listed below are on each ship. Alfredo’s menu Alfredo’s reduced menu GiGi’s menu Kai Sushi’s menu Ocean Terrace menu O’Malley’s menu Planks menu Salty Dog Gastropub menu Steamers menu Vines https://profcruise.com/new-princess-casual-dining-menus/ The menus from this website still have the old a la carte prices for Alfredo's/Gigi's and are inaccurate. We collated the menus and venues by ship in a table in a thread - link here Edited February 27 by dides 3

Of course a guest could pay every time they visit the place and never claim their free visit. Wouldn't be a great thing to do, but certainly wouldn't be a problem as far as I can understand it. If you know only visiting twice and never going to eat all the food, just order what you want and use the credit. No one on Princess is going to force you to eat three courses. mncbabu_yahoo Posted February 27 Author #30 Share Posted February 27 (edited) Wow..lot of discussion on food options, pricing and preferences..This is my summary of understanding. 1.There are 4 or 5 MDR for dinner; formal settings; Menus are same in all. Reservation required; may walk in as well. It is included in basic fare. No alcohol in basic. 2. The plus package allows to dine in for two nights in "casual" restaurants, with some alcohol. More than two nights requires cover charge.. 3.The premium package allows to dine in for 2 nights in " specialty " restaurants. More than two nights require cover charges or additional money. It is upscale restaurant. 4. There is always "buffet" option for dinner as well. No reservations required;included in basic fare.. Correct me if my understanding is not that correct.. Thanks Edited February 27 by mncbabu_yahoo
wallyj Posted February 27 #31 Share Posted February 27 Hi @mncbabu_yahoo, I sailed on the Sapphire last Dec, 2023 and will be back for the March 18, Santiago to LA sailing. I had the premier package. Your casual dining options on Sapphire are Alfredo’s, it is a smaller version, so the menu is not as extensive as Royal Class ships with an Alfredo’s/Gigi’s. The Sapphire does have all of the Pizza selections. Your other option will be a modified Ocean Terrace, they will only have the ‘set’ menu and no substitutions, as I believe the sushi is made in the Deck5 galley, opposed to being made to order on most Royal class ships. Ocean Terrace will only be available on sea days and at lunch on the Sapphire. @startedwithamouse, in December, there was no ‘pop up’ SaltyDogGastroPub on the Sapphire. I will be back on Sapphire March 18, so will report back.

We can live without their casual meals very nicely. I totally agree with you. Tony

Good to hear there's a second choice with an Ocean Terrace pop up. Edited February 27 by startedwithamouse

cadien Posted February 27 #35 Share Posted February 27 I was just on the Sapphire, which only has the one venue, and was surprised how empty it always was. Most of the ship probably had Plus but I was regularly nearby and never saw more than two tables occupied even at regular meal times. Our travel companions had Plus and one only used one of their free meals and the other never got around to it at all.
paddingtonbear Posted June 12 #36 Share Posted June 12 I got DH excited about going to the Catch by Rudi but just realised that the plus package covers 2 “casual” dining experiences not specialty restaurants. We’ll be on the Majestic after the upgrade so don’t really know which restaurants it will have but we have a fair idea. I’m GF and don’t like uncooked seafood so other than Alfredo’s it’s not looking good. 😩
Cruisemeister2002 Posted June 12 #37 Share Posted June 12 Judging by the comments with regards to the MDR's many prefer Casual or Speciality dining. It would be interesting to know exactly what percentage of a passengers fare is for MDR dining as many comment on it being a waste of time paying for a Plus or Premium package as most will never consume 15 drinks per day, eat two Premium desserts, go to the gym or whatever and yet they will spend a lot of dollars on Casual and Speciality dining as they don't like either the food or service in the MDR's. In fact I have been on cruises where some passengers dine in the Speciality restaurants the entire cruise as they have said they are not partial to the food served in the MDR. On past cruises we’ve dined in the MDR and the buffet. I don’t mind the food in either and never have a problem finding something I can eat and enjoy. The MDR takes ages - probably because we preferred to be seated quickly which meant joining a group table where you’d have to wait for people to be served 2 starters and then 2 main meals. I won’t be paying for specialty dining or casual dining over my Plus allowance. We will get good value from Plus for DH from 3 coffee a day, a glasse of wine, a few beers and a scotch and for me from mocktails and cocktails and sparkling later and wifi. And also it’s easy. I just had my hopes about the catch by Rudi for a while there. Edited June 12 by paddingtonbear

Rare tulok Posted June 17 #40 Share Posted June 17 Planks was one of the best meals while on board. Even beat Santinis and Crown Grill for service and taste.
Samangel Posted June 24 #41 Share Posted June 24 Casual dining is like the middle ground between fast food and fancy restaurants. It's where you can chill with friends or family without feeling like you need to dress up or spend a fortune.

Think cozy spots where you can just relax, chat, and enjoy good food without any fancy vibes restaurant sydney. In Sydney, you've got loads of great casual dining spots, from trendy cafes to laid-back eateries. It's all about the vibe, you know? You can just be yourself, no need to put on airs or worry about etiquette. Just good food and good company, that's what it's all about!
