A Which ship should we do post...(Horizon versus Celebration)

Recommended Posts

Both are ABC Islands, exact same itinerary, same month and all.  We have to fly in no matter what.

Horizon in the Havana (balcony and and interior room)

Out of Port Canaveral

or

Celebration but no Havana (balcony and an interior room)

Out of Miami

We have been on the Horizon and really liked it.  Would be nice to do the Havana, which we never have. Yet, it's difficult to turn down the newness of Celebration and we have teens that would love the water slides and other fun.  Havana on the Celebration adds $1k to the trip and doesn't look as nice as Horizon but I could be convinced.

100% Horizon.  I will not sail on an Excel class ship again.  When I went on Mardi Gras in Nov 2021, cruising was still limited to 50-60% and you still couldn't get into the Piano bar, or the comedy club without waiting in line, decent seats at Center stage for the shows and even the casino was full.  I dread to sail on those ships now.  Most nights the line for pizza stretched down to the aft elevator banks by guest services.  Horizon is my favorite ship and adding the Havana rooms, makes it even sweeter.

Horizon hands down. They have a GREAT Havana area on the Horizon

I will be the lone vote (for now) for the Celebration. I've been on the Horizon three times and love the ship but found that it was hard to do everything on the Celebration in 7 days, having an 8 day trip would be great.

I would also do the Celebration. Now, maybe that’s because I just don’t put much value in the Havana area on any ship. Both are great so I don’t think it’s a no Brainer. But the added dining options and bars give the celebration the edge for me.

CELEBRATION !!!  We just came off the Horizon in January.  We heard nothing but awesome things from previous guests as well as previous employees.  They all say Horizon was their favorite. I have to say it was the worst guest experience we had.  The staff we encountered in multiple areas were rude, unfriendly and just didn't care.

Thanks for the thoughts.  Still having trouble deciding, but the opinions are helping.  I'm a little thrown by the balcony rooms available on the Horizon in Havana.  They seem far back from the water.

Emeril's, Big Chicken, Street Eatz...there are more eateries but those stand out to me for Celebration.  And you have teens with you?  Tough call.  I would say Celebration. Either way you will have a wonderful cruise!

Ok, so maybe not "teen"agers.  If they are the type of young adults that like the "havana" atmosphere then I would go Horizon.  There is Bonsai Teppanyaki, Cucina del Capitano and JiJi's (soooo good!!) and Steakhouse so there is some selection dinner-wise on Horizon. My DDs would appreciate the Havana area a lot (21 & 23 years old) so possibly your 18 to 20 years old would as well.  Like I said before, you all will have a wonderful cruise either way😃

After 3 sailings on Mardi Gras and 3 sailings on Celebrations, we're having a hard time going back to the smaller ships, with all the new options for food and drinks on the Excel class ships...  We always do a basic balcony cabin, but spend minimal time in there - outside of sleeping, so the Havana options wouldn't have an impact.  I didn't notice much of a difference in terms of crowds between Mardi Gras/Celebration and Horizon/Vista.
