Ocean Cay YC Cabanas

First time on MSC. Can anyone who was YC and purchased a Cabana in the YC section, are there any Cabanas either Ocean View or Beach Front that you have access to the actual beach? I see in most of the pictures there are rocks at the waters edge and seems you can't go into the water.

Thnaks,

Chris

I don’t mean to hijack your thread but I’m curious about these too having never sailed MSC.

My question is, are they needed? I see a lot of chairs with shade from umbrellas and the amount of trees and etc makes me feel like maybe not? Also, on the dedicated site for ocean cay by MSC it says these come with complimentary snorkeling gear for the day, no mention of it on the main MSC site however. Can anyone shed some light on that for me please?

No, not needed.

There are plenty of loungers and umbrellas on the beach. My family and I get one but most YC guests have no real desire for one. The cabanas don't always sell out.

I've never used them but if a Yacht Club guest wants them, it'll get done. The pink floating mats are there for guest use.

Let's start with cabanas #6 in the foreground and #1 in the background. These are considered beachfront properties. The sand is pretty nice here, but just a few feet from the waters edge are the sharp pebbles which extend into the water making this the worst beach on Ocean Cay.

Next if one stands inside cabana #6 one has this view of the ocean. Has been reported that cabana #1, the farthest down the beach has a better oceanview, without all the lounges and umbrellas.

Picture tells a thousand words in this case.

Walking up the slight incline from cabana #6 we have this grassy area next to Ocean House. On the opposite side of Ocean House we have the blue Kitchen and next to this begins cabana #7-#14 Ocean view with no beach.

Now # 13 might be just the best cabana combining a nice view and the rocks in front of this cabana separating the Yacht Club area from the 'steerage' beach, which is one of the best beaches on Ocean Cay. One can access this pristine, silky sand beach by walking a few feet to the right as the rocks taper to no rocks and complete access to the beach. (This works both ways. As 'steerage' can access the complimentary offerings of the YC before getting caught by a butler and escorted off the premises).

P.S. Actually 'steerage' have the best beaches on the island and there is no reason to interlope on OceanHouse, if only for curiosity. And YC guests are asked not to go to the bar for drinks, but to ask for a butler to serve.

Thanks for all this info. So in your best guess, if I want a Cabana in the YC area that has a short walking distance to a walk into the Ocean do I want a Beach front or ocean view? I know that sounds like a stupid question but all the pictures I see, the Beachfronts all have the rocks on the ocean.

You may want to consider the cost before allowing yourself to get too excited about cabana selection.

This short video is the beachfront access in front of cabanas #1-#6.

Hi all...

currently on the second cruise of a Meraviglia B2B and was lucky enough to have cabana 13 both weeks.  Beautiful view, less than a minute to the water and less $$ than ocean front (which has been accurately described as more beach chair front).

I'm very thankful that I was able to dock both weeks at Ocean Cay.  Loved the cabana and the lobster roll!

Happy sailing!

Take water shoes, utilize the provided chairs and umbrellas at YC, tip your server, you will not go thirsty…we had guys bringing trays of drinks as far as the waters edge for our group..

If you're wanting a reprieve from the hot sun like my DW, a Cabana is worth it, for us anyways. Just our personal preference.

We have done Cabana #7 oceanview and found it was worth the extra $50 to move to oceanfront on our next cruise. Either Cabana #4 or #5 will have the best ocean access. Our last cruise, I forgot to stop by the YC Concierge and request Cabana #4 until the day before. He initially told me we were already assigned to #2, but when we arrived at Ocean House, the butler looked us up and said, "ah, yes, Cabana #4!"

I definitely recommend water shoes! Those pebbles hurt until you get out in the water.

For the snorkel gear, just go up to Ocean House to get it and tell them which Cabana you're staying in.

It's nice having the chilled Prosecco upon your arrival along with the iced down water bottles.

They scheduled our jet ski excursion (we're doing this excursion again in a few weeks because we enjoyed it so much!) during the YC lunch time. After being worried, our butler told us "no problem." He wrote down our lunch orders and they were waiting in our Cabana in "bento-style" boxes when we got back!

During our visit, the Cabanas had a separate butler tending to them from the YC "gen pop" 🤣 So the cocktail service was very prompt.
