We had an extra sea day Thanks for replying to my question. Seems lots onboard are hearing the dock was broken. Still posts asking if it's fixed on my may 6th mariner. Hopefully a one day fix. Anyone else have any information if the dock is fixed today?

Other than the fact that there are those who have always disliked Nassau and Costa Maya, I don’t see many similarities between the two locations with regards to problems or amenities. Rare island lady Posted April 12 #28 Share Posted April 12 Costa Maya used to be just a little hole in the wall when the ships started going there. Absolutely nothing there. Would grab a taxi to go to Mahahual just to walk around, spend some time on the beach, and have lunch. Now...they have put in the mega tourist village, and are still adding on to the back of it. Most times we are only there half a day. Simple walk around, see the birds via the rope walkways, back to the ship for lunch. In the past we have indeed gone to Maya Chan...loved it, but been there, done that...too many times. And the two track road out to it will give your kidneys some grief! 😮 We also did cooking classes in Mahahual with a beautiful couple that hosted in their home (but they have since closed down). We always get creative at all the ports.....just have to have an open mind. 😉

Cruisemapper shows them near the dock (not as a dot like it would be if they were docked), but Cruising Earth shows them docked. The webcam doesn't appear to be working.

The big issue is they are closed a large portion of the peak season. We've never been to Maya Chan. We watched some videos and the facilities look great, but the water looks brown and murky in all the videos we watched. What did the water look like when you were there? The water is murky mainly due to sargassum plus some seagrass. Sargassum is seasonal and quantity is dependent on water currents and storms so how something was yesterday, last month, last year will have no bearing on how it will be in the future. Unfortunately the season is getting longer. Maya Chan is now closing through the summer due to sargassum, hurricanes and employees. If there is sargassum at Maya Chan it will be present at all beaches in the area although the malecon area does have some protection now due to off shore baffles. Inconspicuous Posted June 11 #38 Share Posted June 11 We went to Maya Chan in 2020 right before COVID. The water was murky, we only spent a little bit of time in it. We mostly just wanted a nice, quiet beach getaway where we didn't have to worry about paying for alcohol and food a la carte, and this fit the bill. They have a nice freshwater pool (might be saltwater, guess I'm not sure) set back away from the beach in a shaded area if you want to chill in a quiet pool area. They had the best fresh made guacamole I've ever had. I also bought my wife a massage while we were there. Nice little place without the loud music and big flashy signs and such, and no one being pushy to try to sell you upcharge items. I've already reserved our visit when we sail down there on Harmony this September. Looking forward to it.
