does MSC, especially the Seashore, have made to order stations in the buffet for lunch/dinner?  I'm thinking pasta station, stir fry, or noodle bar.  I'm assuming they have omelet/egg stations at breakfast

Meraviglia had made to order omelets (I don't think every day....I could be wrong).  Nothing else that I noticed was made to order.  It in no way compares to the NCL buffet.

I was on Meraviglia last November and they did not have made to order omelets (or eggs benedict) at buffet breakfast. You could only get made to order omelettes or eggs beneditct in MDR for breakfast. They had basic premade omelets at buffet breakfast with nothing on them. Meraviglia for lunch buffet is very good (better than Royal Caribbean from my experience) but weak for breakfast buffet.

Hmmm...I sure there was an omelet station (last week) but I didn't have one, so maybe it was just a vat of pre-made ones.

ahhh, it's the very reason why I asked.  I really like the pasta station at the NCL buffet.

The NCL buffets (all 3 meals) have unlimited options.....never had a bad meal there.  On MSC the buffets are "ok" but with limited choices...there were a few really "not good" things I tried.

However, nobody beats MSC when it comes to pizza.  There was a large bowl of sphagetti by the pizza; I didn't try it so I won't comment.

IMHO...if you're cruising for the buffet, NCL is the way to go.

On the Epic in January we hated the buffet and much prefer MSC's over NCL's buffet. There was a pasta station, it was not made to order, they made 2 dishes when it started to get low, put them out and went away until more was needed. Never made red sauce that I could find out of the 3 weeks we were on the ship.

Also, the buffet was so limited and small. I will take MSC's buffet anyday over NCL's.

OP, there was no omelet station on the Meraviglia that we could find last year on our 11 day cruise. They had pre-made omelets.

wow.  thanks for everyone who pointed out no omelet station.  I just figured that was standard.  Not that I'm a huge omelet fan or anything, but I do usually get my scrambled eggs made to order if the eggs in the buffet are wet and runny

@ready2cruzagainI hope this was an "Epic Specific" buffet issue and not a fleet wide cutback.

I was thinking the same as this has not been my experience with NCL.  I've never been on the epic, mainly because of the bathroom configuration in the cabins

@dbrown84My husband confirmed, no made to order omelet station on Mera last week.  We were in YC, and I had my omelet up there at 7:30 am.  He sleeps much later than me so his breakfast was in the main buffet (open "almost always") about 11 am...and he had the pre-made ones.

Another point of interest pertaining to buffets; I don't know if you care...but MSC's does not have those cabinets full of desserts/pastries or 8 kinds of ice cream with toppings!  MSC is very frugal with ice cream.

Made to order omelet station on the Seashore last week. All the way at the back close to door to the outside eating area. They had premade ones on other areas of the buffet

All the better to drive gelato sales.

It is my considered opinion that MSC relies heavily on passenger spending on the ship and close-to-the-bone staffing levels to make their business model work.

Whatever they give that most other cruise lines don't (honoring drink packages on their private island and letting you convert OBC to cash in the casino, as examples) has to be made up elsewhere.

I saw made or order omelette station in January on Meraviglia.
It was allllllll the way in the back, facing the doors to the outside . So unless you circled all the way around the buffet, you would not see it!
So the people saying it was not there, possibly just did not see it. Also, I dont know the hours it was available, and likely was only open during a very specif time-frame.

Just off Meraviglia and every day at the YC One Pool buffet we were able to get made to order omelettes. Not a fan of their early restaurant hours for breakfast.

Yes....but OP is asking about the main buffet, not YC.

Must be something they started recently because it was not there last year when we went. I know because that is where we went to eat everytime we ate in the buffet.

There usually is a made to order pasta station, but the options to interfere the cook with your special wishes are very limited. But you can expect to get a very nice pasta dish.

Hello,

Fresh (within 4 hours) from Euribia and they did have a made to order omelette and poached egg station every day at breakfast in the buffet. It was at the stern across the beam of the ship - and I think few people made it that far apart from staff/crew (and me). Not 'Eggs Benedict' though.

Regards,

Cublet

Thanks.  We got onto the omelet talk, but it's really the pasta and/or stir fry stations that I'm more interested in

I have seen pasta stations on MSC ships in the buffet, but never actually tried them. Looked like they had various noodle types, various sauces, and various toppings and they would mix them all together for you?

yes, this is what I'm referring to.  It's one of my goto meals on NCL, especially when they have the pesto sauce out
