Ocean Blue Dress Code

I know that pants are required for men at Ocean Blue, but are they required if you are sitting outside?

You have to have pants on everywhere on the cruise in general.  No one wants to see your junk.  You can wear short pants most places.  I believe Le Bistro and Ocean Blue require (actually request) long pants and a collared shirt for men.  In my experience jeans and a tshirt are fine.

Eating outside at Ocean Blue can be very chilly.  The movement of the ship creates its' own breeze and it can be very cold in the outside dining venues not just Ocean Blue.

Short pants are ok while sitting outside. OB is one of our favorites. We love the basil sorbet! Never had anything like it. Delicious!

Thank you but we will be docked in Bermuda.   We agree, it is on the chilly side while the ship is moving but do enjoy eating outside while docked.

Thank you very much.   We have never eaten at Ocean Blue before, but the young adults in our family want to give it a try.   The men and young adult men would rather not bring or wear pants.

Technically, the restaurant requires that all gentlemen to have long pants (jeans or dockers are o.k.). IF they chose to seat non-compliant patrons outside, that is at the discretion of the restaurant. And I have heard people complain to the Maître D about non-compliant patrons being in the restaurant.

Sure. Shorts are allowed in all restaurants for all meals except Le Bistro and Ocean Blue.

Ocean Blue has ALWAYS allowed me to sit outside to dine (which I prefer) while wearing shorts.  It's also one of my favorite restaurants on ANY ship that has one.

Found it humoress given I could look in the windows to see someone sitting at a window table no more than 5 feet from us.

Silly to see it, as the only thing differentiating whether you need to wear long pants or not is a door between inside and outside, 5 feet apart.  If you're going to go "Free Style", do it everywhere.

Pants are always required - I believe you are making the distinction between long and short pants - and if you are in the restaurant whether inside or outside I would suggest that long pants are proper attire -

What about kilts?  Do you consider those to be the same as pants?

I've seen the "what if?" game played regarding dress codes.

I know there was debate a while ago about attire when sailing to Bermuda.  It's not uncommon there to see business people wearing a sport coat with shorts.

Since I own a kilt, the full 9 yards as well, I would be happy to wear one in the dining room. . . .but - as others have said - they don't want to see my junk! 😁

of course, that would be ON bermuda, not on a ship en route thereto!  Our British cousins have different standards on their ships, plus, they had a daily ration together with an entire Scots regiment boarded at times - thus - they needed to be more flexible in their dress when I was a guest on board!  😉

I've never understood why the site of someone in shorts ruins one's culinary experience.  If it does, I would suggest not to crawl around on the floor looking under tables.

Indeed, such activities might find one escorted off of the ship 👮‍♂️

We ate at Ocean Blue on Getaway.  We were at sea so the Waterfront seating was closed.  The family in front of us had a reservation but were mostly in shorts and T-shirts.  There was some discussion between them and the host and I think the host prevailed.  The family got seated at the Raw Bar.
