Whoops. Emerald Greenland deals revoked.

As I said when this was first reported it is a glitch in the system. I would have questioned getting something for nothing. Remember if it looks too good to be true it probably is

True.  I went through the booking process and when I saw 0 dollars for a mini-suite that includes the Premiere Package on the Star, I concluded that this booking if made will be revoked and I did not want to go through the hassle of dealing with Princess to cancel.

Although I must say the consolation prize of a comped inside cabin is not bad for Princess' newest ship.

Hoping to not go there- I told you so.

Please, be kind. This has been handled very poorly by Princess.

All who booked were well aware there was a Risk.

Above posters on here and in my original OMG thread have received $0 comp offers and they enjoyed their win fall.

Last year, I was offered a 2 week cruise to Alaska for $0 and a 16 night Hawaii cruise for $0 and I took them both! I had no reason to believe that this was a computer glitch or a mistake, since I have had several $0 offers in the past, and successfully took them.

Thanks again for sharing that it was possible to get this kind of offer.

Here is the discounted pricing for the various cabins on the Star October 2025 cruise, per Jen Wright:

Hello Susan -

I am including the pricing options below should you be interested in the discounted upgrade.  We can honor the interior room complimentary, meaning at the rate you have already paid, but it does not include the Plus or Premier package.  The offer does include a $200 per person onboard credit.  Should you choose to purchase the package onboard you can use the OBC to offset some of the cost of the package which I highly recommend given all that's included.

The rates below are per person, in addition to what you have already paid.

Oceanview: $280

Deluxe Balcony:$630

Mini suite: $1050

Cabana mini suite: $1120

Sincerely,

Jen

Has anybody received the upgrade pricing options for the August 2024 Greenland cruise?

For my August 2024 Boston-Greenland roundtrip booking, I can see that the cabin has been changed from guaranteed mid-aft obstructed oceanview category to a guaranteed forward inside category and the Plus benefits have been removed.  However, I have yet to receive an e-mail notifying me of these changes.  Is anybody else still waiting for the e-mail?  I've checked my spam folder and don't see anything there either.

I have not received an email as of yet but they have changed cabin to interior and deleted premier package

I do not think so….the Bait, an offer for a free cruise with Princess plus…the Switch…changing their offer and now if you want to go it will cost you more if you want to keep the category you booked and pay the fees per their terms.  Plus, they took away the Princess Plus and changed the OBC from $200 pp to $100 pp. I would not have booked the cruise under that offer…so I was Baited and Switch. Plus, only giving a 3 day lead time or the deposit was non- refundable.

You are subject to the multiple page terms and conditions you accepted with you booked.  The law is very simplifief whether a normal person would think it was a reasonable offer to the general public.  Casino offers are something very different and not published on the regular website.

We booked and were offered $200OBC, our deposit refunded and a call from a USA based employee.  The letter was a bit awkward and 3 days could have been longer, but handled really pretty well for an IT error.

I just called the 800 number and got nowhere with the representative.  He had no clue what was going on and all he kept telling me is I need to wait until 85 days out from the cruise and bid for an upgrade.  I patiently tried to explain repeatedly that there's an e-mail about pricing error which  mentions specially-reduced upgrade pricing and that we need to make a decision by Monday, but he just couldn't comprehend this.  I gave up and ended the call.  Very frustrating . . .

email Jen Wright, or whoever was on the email you received.  That's how I got the pricing for the Star cruise.  Be sure to tell her you tried customer service and they were clueless.

There is really no reason to cancel the Barcelona cruise now. It is still far off and a lot can happen. The deposit of $200 is just a small amount, and with that, I am at least guaranteed an inside room. With tax, it's $285, which is only $40 per day, still a very good deal for solo travel on the newest ship. I can use the OBC to pay for gratuities, and I may still have enough balance to book an excursion. I can always bid for a better cabin closer to sailing if the pricing is good. If I cancel, Princess is the one who would be very happy because they can sell my room for more than $2,000 to other passengers. Of course, they want me to cancel, but I am not going to do that. They need to pay for the mistake they made.

Yup, e-mail just sent.  How long did it take to get a response from Jen Wright?

When I booked the cruise it was by opening the email Princess Casino sent me. I followed the link and the Emerald cruise showed up. Grabbed it as we wanted to go to Canada and Greenland. At no time did I think it was not a legitimate offer. They should have done better than the vague late Friday email giving until Monday to cancel.

We have not received the e-mail and our travel summary still shows the inside we picked and all the OBC’s and the Plus benefits.  Very strange 🤔

Are you on the Greenland one?

Good for you.

Princess is counting on people cancelling due to their disappointment in getting a comped inside cabin with no perks versus the too good to be true comped mini suite with Premiere package.

If you really think about it, a comped inside cabin on the newest ship is a great deal.

Well, I actually emailed my pvp asking for more information this morning just before 8am and cc'd Jen Wright, along with customer service.  I received an email back from Jen at 9:06, so it was very fast.  Barely an hour.  Of course, she might be busier now that it's later in the day.

Do we know for sure that we can bid on upgrades with a comped cruise?  I was wondering about that.  Has anyone done it?

Not sure about this particular comped cruise as this is an oddball due to not being part of a casino offer.

However, recently, we were offered (through the casino) a comped inside cabin, but chose to pay $ 400 (total for two people over the entire sailing) for a mini-suite.  We then bid and were successfully upgraded to a Penthouse Suite.

My conclusions and path forward:

"Too good to be true"?  No. Don't gamble lots, but I've still used several zero dollar offers in the past.

Questions about it being unethical to book or complaints about others not paying "their fair share"?  Really? I'm mystified, sitting here just shaking my head.

The e-mail? Poorly written. Offering to honor the OBC that was separately paid for doesn't make me particularly grateful. The Friday-Monday thing was poor form, perhaps even "unethical"?. Claims of being sincerely apologetic just didn't quite ring true.

Disappointed at the changes? Sure.

Angry? No. These guys are running a business, and like a lot of big organizations there are problems and varying levels of competence. I don't expect much and I'm usually not disappointed. Sometimes I even laugh.

Path forward? I'll sail. I was going to be pretty far ahead, after MIL,FCC,SHB on board credits and the Plus Package paying wifi and grats. Now I'm just about even. Still not a bad deal, certainly.

Ha!

I had the time of my life last couple of days!

Was looking for you on my OMG thread!

———

jen wright responded immediately re: cancellation fees- waived- now in writing

FCD & FCC back in my account

credit card refund- 2 weeks ?

no cruise on Star

—-

Really could not accept free inside cabin- good deal for those who can

The upgrades I was offered were too much for an unplanned cruise

No dirty banana, no Alfredo’s & no gross ice cream desserts

———

I am truly sorry to those who are having problems with this.

When we are on a Princess ship we love it.

There has been way too much hassle in past year re: phone, customer service, annoying promos, errors in payments, refunds etc. to continue dealing with Princess.

I am going on the Sun at the end of 2024 and taking a rest after that.

I do nit understand why people call the 800 number.  Why doesn’t everyone have a CVP or TA ?  They will have much more information than any call center
