PANORAMIC FREEDOM CLASS ?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We are conceding booking a panoramic oceanview on the Freedom of the Seas and have some questions:

Would we feel ship movement more in these rooms since they are very forward and on deck 12?

Will we hear any noises (we had the same room on a celebrity cruise last week but we were on deck 8 where every morning an hour before docking in port we heard loud noises we believe were from the lines/ropes for docking)

Thank you.

In general, the more forward (or the more aft), and the higher up you are, the more motion you will feel.  Since these rooms are as high up as you can get, and as forward as you can get, you are more likely to feel motion in these rooms.

Just to add to clarify, the motion that intensifies the further forward and higher up on decks you are is the up and down motion of the ship as it moves forward.  The side to side rolling motion will be felt the same anywhere on the ship, more intensely on the higher decks.  But this rolling motion is what the stabilizers mitigate.

Yes, you will feel more motion in the panoramic ocean view room but it hasn’t been a problem for us. We’ve been in this location 3 times.  The rooms have always been very quiet.  I prefer the rooms on either side (port or starboard) as opposed to the ones that look out over the bow.  The view in the “side” rooms is unobstructed where the very forward cabins have an obstructed view of the bow and various comm/navigational equipment.  My primary objection to these rooms is their location….meaning they are on the opposite end of the ship from where we spend the most time.  If you don’t mind walking, these rooms are very nice.  The prices on the 1L have gotten a little out of control, IMO.  Oftentimes you can get a balcony for less than you can get one of these rooms.  Just check prices carefully.

@Cruisegirl6 We were in one on Explorer, which is a smaller, but close.  We were in the front left corner, great views, but felt motion.   At night we were told we had to keep our drapes closed so the light from our room did not bother the bridge.

We slept great, but did had some motion issues when we were upright in the morning getting ready.  We just would lay down in-between each of us showering, dressing, and leaving the room, so were fine, but it was one of our more rocky cruises.  Our mom lost her balance and fell with one of the pitches of the ship.

Once out the room we were fine for the rest of the day although others were having sea sickness as we saw and bags were put out by the stairs.   If we just dropped in for a short time we were fine.  I would try them again as we loved the room, but might try and get a bit further back as we always felt less motion as we left the room.

We did not have any issues with noise.

We had a panoramic suite on Independence of the seas, got caught in a storm…. a little more motion and sounds as waves crash into the bow.

We drank champagne and stared at mother natures display of wind, rain, waves and lightning…. it was incredible. The only downside for us was we had to remove the wooden hangers from the closet as they were clanging together endlessly.  We loved the awesome views as our suite above the bridge was on the corner and looked both forward and port side.
