Crown Princess Question

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Does anyone have any information on Dolphin Deck Mini Suites on Crown Princess? In particular are they covered? The  we are looking at is to FNQ so we need some protection. Thanks all.

I've not sailed on her, but it would appear from doing a bit of research that Dolphin Deck (Deck 9) balconies on Crown are uncovered which is also the case on other grand class Princess ships.

Caribe deck balconies are larger (9’x9’) and are half covered & half uncovered however they are balcony cabins & not minisuites. I don’t know if having a larger balcony or a larger cabin is preferred by the author but they are options that could be considered.

On our particular cruise the only ones offered are Dolphin deck where I can actually pick a cabin, not a deck. We need the same cabin as we are doing B2B. We originally booked an AFT premium balcony on Baja deck (booked whilst on board Royal) but now that we are home I have realised Crown Princess balcony cabins do not have sofas so now wondering whether we should go up to a mini. Unfortunately we do need a little protection from the sun for this particular cruise to FNQ. Thanks all for the input.

Like you, we prefer to have a sofa so that means a mini suite.

I'm open to correction here, but I THINK the mini suite balconies on Emerald Deck are covered? They also appear to be in an aft location.

Yes, you are correct, but my problem is we are going to do B2B and can’t seem to line up two cabins except on Dolphin Deck. Might speak to Princess today and see if our cruise planner can help. Thanks again. I really did think a premium cabin gave a sofa, but not so on Crown unfortunately. The extended balcony is really not that of a priority for us, even though very nice. So many times lately we have barely been able to use the balcony because of the weather.

Well, that's a nuisance. Well worth tapping your cruise planner on the shoulder to see what can be done. Sometimes with a bit of prodding a miracle happens. 😉

About to do just that!🤣

Good luck. Let us know how you go

Just an update. We changed to a covered mini on Emerald deck, extra OBC with an increase of just under $1000 for both cruises. We are quite happy as I worked out the increase to a lot more and less OBC. Finally the Princess Cruise Planner earned his money.

@Ozwoody Hi there, I believe you have an upcoming cruise on the Crown Princess. I'll be away for the next few weeks but had a reminder in my calendar to ask if you'd be kind enough to take a pic of the power and USB sockets in Crown cabins. The info is for my daughter and a group of her friends. No worries if you forget or your plans have changed 😊

Hi Jean

Yep I have a note in my Cruise doc's to take the photos and pass them onto you.

Only 28 days to go, getting excited, first Princess cruise since 2018.

our last cruises were with Cunard & P&O Aust.

I've missed Princess, their like a comfortable pair of shoes.😂

I'm toying with doing a "live from", comparing the current Princess with our past experience.

Hopefully it will have the same comfortable feel to it.

Thank you very much. Not long for you, I hope you have a very relaxing and fun cruise. I'd be interested too in the general condition of the ship. Kind regards, Jean

That would be great if you could, John. Although we are not on the Crown until February 2026, I would like to hear all about her. 🤗

Does anyone know about Aloha Deck?  Are balconies covered, in particular cabin A242?  Any other head up about this cabin?  Thanks.

I've not sailed on her so don't have first hand knowledge, but she's a Grand class and I believe balconies on Deck 12 are covered. I've just googled it and there was a thread on CC back in 2015 that stated all balconies from Deck 11 up are covered, same as Pacific Encounter.

apparently the power sockets on Crown Princess are by the desk and there is a USB on each of the night stands.

We've been watching a couple on youtube (Port Monkeys) who cruise a lot and they've done several videos from Crown Princess from earlier in the year

She is just about to depart LA and head across the Pacific. As she will be based here, they will be adding an AU outlet during the crossing. This is likely to be at the expense of one of the Euro outlets, although if anything like Coral, it could be an additional desk mounted outlet with extra USB-A's. Whichever way, there will be a change before she arrives in Sydney.

that would be great if they add an AUS / NZ outlet!
