SouthernMainer Posted May 9 #1 Share Posted May 9 About to book my first MSC cruise. What other costs will pop up beyond the cruise cost, tax and port charges? Thanks!
oceans.calling Posted May 9 #2 Share Posted May 9 We never had any.
SouthernMainer Posted May 9 Author #3 Share Posted May 9 How are gratitudes handled? Envelopes like the old days?
Two Wheels Only Posted May 9 #4 Share Posted May 9 A daily charge is added (per person) to your onboard account. The amount can vary by age.

Rare Essiesmom Posted May 9 #6 Share Posted May 9 If you book over the phone you can prepay them. O way to do that after you book, but I suppose you could call and have it added. EM
SouthernMainer Posted May 9 Author #7 Share Posted May 9 I just need to have all costs predictable and accurate for someone. Recently on RCCL OV cabin, gratuities were 18pp x 4 in that cabin. $72 a day. $504 for the 7 night.
ajoneen Posted May 9 #8 Share Posted May 9 I think it is $16pp per day (kids might be a little less)
oceans.calling Posted May 10 #9 Share Posted May 10 If you booked before Oct 2, 2023 you can inform GS to reduce the rate to 14. Under 12 is half price.

Rare Best Cat Mom Posted May 10 #11 Share Posted May 10 I see that you asked this in another thread. If you booked in the US, you'll have the resort fees/gratuities added to your cabin charges. Nothing else if you don't charge anything to your cabin.

Agrajag27 Posted May 10 #13 Share Posted May 10 Our first cruise is in August and, so far, I've been impressed with all the fees seemingly showing up on the front end.

Envelopes are alive and well for any additional gratuities you wish to give out. They are not required and MSC officially discourages it, but of course on US sailings it is still common.
