Are you sure about purging that sleeping mask? There are going to be some very early sunrises!

Just put it back in my case!  What the heck…

I think you’ll be glad you brought it. I woke up around 4:30am yesterday morning and it was bright as can be!

Air tag / Tile noob here.

So what is the consensus on tags?
Yay or nay?  Anyone?  Anyone?

There is probably a thread on another board for this.

Breakfast of banana bread French toast with eggs and bacon was pretty good

Suddenly my lunch salad has been reduced from a level of contentment and satiability to edibility and sustenance.

But I am glad you enjoyed your breakfast.
Enjoy Seattle.

To each their own.  We've always printed ours and used them, except once when I left them on my desk instead of putting them in my backpack.

I have Air Tags, honestly I found it useful for tracking - I need to remind myself sometimes there is a lag updating.

But my last trip I actually placed one in my car because I was leaving my car at Detroit airport for 2 weeks I shared the location with my husband as he was back in Canada so we could both check on it 😅

Trip before, my flight from London to Toronto was delayed and they cancelled me on my connection. I had to run through the airport to the gate and convinced them to put me back on the flight but as there was a 45 min gap between the flights obviously my luggage didn't make it. Lady at the gate told me once I arrive in Windsor report it as lost straight away as we knew it wasn't making the plane. At the counter they asked 'do you have any idea where the bag may be' I pulled up the app and showed them it was still in Toronto (actually showed where it was in the airport). Two days later they delivered the bag to my house.

Now here’s where it gets good…since I live in a mostly mild climate in winter with plenty of heat in the summer, the vast majority of my wardrobe is geared toward keeping cool.  I didn’t own a lot of layering pieces because I don’t layer! I’m happy to report that my entire Alaska wardrobe ran me less than $100 because the vast majority of it came from my local Good Will…to include my Lands End puffer jacket which was priced at $9.99.  However, it turns out I am considered a senior citizen (at age 56) and on Tuesdays I get 50% off…I can’t wait to sport my $5 jacket on glacier day…not to mention the other things I saved from going into a landfill somewhere.  Yay!

Wowzerz!  🤩

I love this idea.  We are looking at having family drop our car at the airport upon our return (we live close to the airport but Uber/taxis/etc aren’t a “thing” in our rural town) so having a car dropped that day makes sense we does putting an AirTag in it.

I'm in New York, and on my flight out United didn't update the status from checked in in SFO.  Fortunately, once I got cellular and wifi, the air tag reported itself in Newark Airport.  So I didn't worry until my bag came off.

I’ll be following along. We’re in Seward boarding Summit tomorrow for the southbound to Vancouver. We had three glorious days in Denali and took the Alaska Railroad to Seward. The round trips just didn’t go where we wanted to see.

Although we’ve been told Alaskans view moose about like we view squirrels…

I know what you mean I'm near a city (20km away) but its technically rural so its not easy - especially if I fly cross border.

I think with the car it updated less frequently because it needed someone nearby with an iPhone, but it gave me reassurance I could check the location and make sure it was still at the airport 🤣

Had a really nice day in Seattle. Temperature was a welcome 56 degrees when we started toward the Pike Place Market but warmed to the 60’s by the time we walked back from the Space Needle to our hotel.

Pike Place Market was interesting…very crowded though. We attempted to follow @SerraG’s lead and visit Pike Place Chowder but the line was wrapped around the block!   We walked instead a few blocks toward the Space Needle and landed at Virginia Inn Restaurant and Bar for a bowl of chowder and a local beer. Both were great!

After a light lunch we continued onward to the Space Needle and Chihuly Glass Museum. Both were very interesting. We purchased a combined ticked good for both attractions which cost $64 pp. We thought it was worth the price and the effort to walk to the area. Round trip from our hotel was 6.5 miles!  I’m pooped 🙃!

When you said “those tags can be fun,” I immediately thought about my first time using one.  It kept popping up on my phone and sharing all kinds of information whether my bag was with me or not.  Once I arrived home, I still received messages and had to call Apple for a fix.  It seems I was one of those people where the tag went wack-a-doodle.  Finally, the issue was fixed by the next trip.

I had to set my alerts -   I constantly get a notification when out shopping that I left my car behind.    The good thing, if you are like me and constantly forget where I parked my car - they are invaluable.

They also save me more than once -   I was at my Son's about 1 hour drive away.   Got about a block from his house and got an Alert I left my backpack and computer behind.... Quick U-Turn and all was good

I love mine and just bought an extra 4.   If thinking of buying -- I would hold off.  Rumor has it that Apple will release AirTag 2 next year with about 10x the range

Love the pictures of Seattle.    Brings back such fond memories.    As a consultant I use to live there  M-F for 8 months.   My Apartment was about 6 blocks from Pike's Market and overlooking the cruise terminal.

If you want a good meal on the cheap -- check out Larry's Market --- Kinda like a Whole Foods but on steroids.    You can buy many meals - ready to cook or eat in their Cafe.   Iain use to have be bring back - various Stuffed Chicken Breasts -- Cordon Blu, Chile Relleno and Brie and Pear..

They have a place on Queen Ann's hill... I would often eat there when I didn't feel like cooking.

MIL lived in Olympia for much of her life. Because the rental car fees at SEATAC were so crazy, we’d sometimes take the light rail to Seattle and spend the night and pick up the rental in downtown Seattle. She loved salmon. That fish market that’s such a tourist show has a deadly serious side. Walk up and talk about buying fish and they’re all business and very knowledgeable.

Found out one of our favorite places didn’t survive 2020. They had great seafood not far from Pike Place.

One more air tag hint that we learned the hard way.  If the battery goes out, don't use the Duracell ones you have hanging around.  They're coated with something to make little kids spit them out and it breaks the contact.  Get a different brand, or one that says Air Tag compatible.

Hi hope you’ll post some photos of your cruise as we’re doing the south bound on Summit on 12th July after the 3 night Celebrity land tour.

Post back if umbrellas are in the cabins or you need to request them. Bon Voyage. 🍻

I was on the Edge for it's first Alaska sailing and there was a umbrella in the room.  It was very small, and would barely cover a single individual.

@Georgia_Peaches, I believe that you are sailing as a Retreat passenger.  There will be Pier-side Retreat Host outside the terminal when you arrive.  If they are already inside escorting other guests, just make yourself known at the Retreat priority entrance on the right side of the terminal building.

The Ovation OTS will also be at Pier 91, but ignore that line and head over towards the Edge.

Woohoo!  Today’s the day!  We went to bed early but managed to stay awake to just after 9 pm est and got great sleep!  In fact I think I’m a tad sleep drunk!

Highly recommend the Arctic Club hotel!  They accommodated our 10 AM arrival yesterday ($25 early check in fee) and were super friendly and hospitable. The room is boutique sized but had a nice city view and everything we needed…and some things we didn’t …like salted caramel balls covered in chocolate 😊. The bed was very comfortable as well.

We enjoyed a nightcap at the bar (it was barely 5 pm lol) before heading to our room. The bar/lobby has tons of character with a working fireplace, billiard table and lots of comfortable leather pub chairs.
