Depends on the Chase card. Yes that is true but for the Sapphire’s which have travel insurance it is similar to a basic travel policy sold by the insurance companies. AMEX travel series has similar insurance but they have changed recently so I am not sure how they compare. Other credit card companies have travel cards which are usually exclusively rental car insurance or similar which is unneeded if you have decent car insurance already
Rare POA1 Posted June 17 #28 Share Posted June 17 Also remember that within a family of cards, whether it's Chase, Amex, or Citi, there is a wide variance in coverages. The best coverage usually comes from the cards with the highest annual fees, so read all the contracts before relying on the coverage.

Also one thing I have never seen addressed is whether if the credit card terms change after your purchase is your purchase swept into the new system or remains covered by the old parameters. Maybe @iamtrustworthy would be willing to comment. And ditto any insurance coverage, can the terms change after purchase?

I am an AARP member and have OBC from them, but would like to buy a couple of these cards for onboard expenses. Can someone point me in the right direction. I am usually very good at finding things on websites! Thanks. I had difficulties as well. I did call them directly and they helped me immediately.
wdw1972 Posted July 1 #32 Share Posted July 1 I use aarp.org/rewards From there scroll down until you find where you can buy gift cards (rewards). I just bought 5 yesterday. Received the 5 emails almost instantly, with the order #, card # and PIN. Sue/WDW1972

pmjnh Posted July 3 #35 Share Posted July 3 (edited) Yes, we buy them monthly as well. You need to go to the rewards page and just keep on scrolling. They have changed from 10% to 8% but still a savings. You do need to be a member of AARP now..for a long time you did not. I receive the cards via email within 20 minutes. I then have my TA apply them to my HAL booking and have no issue, except that we just saved a good bit of money. Edited July 3 by pmjnh

If you meant per year those numbers also seem off to me. We are allowed to purchase five gift cards each month, each with a $500 gift card value (or $460 out of pocket). That's $2,500 gift card value ($2,300 out of pocket) per month. Where are you getting $2,400 figure from? Then again, I'm easily confused. Plus, many TA's rebate their commission in the form of OBC and that adds VERY quickly :).
