Booking next cruise onboard?

Can anyone tell me if there’s any advantage to booking next cruise whilst onboard - or has that become a perk of the past? Thanks in anticipation.

In US there is a reduced deposit and OBC.

No reduced deposit for booking suites. I think it is a 10% deposit for suites.

Yes.  For non-suite bookings, the difference between refundable and non-refundable deposits is in the total fare, not the deposit. The same reduced deposit will apply to both fare bases.

And for non-refundable the reduced deposit is the biggest advantage of booking onboard.  I don't mind risking $200 but won't risk $900.

Sometimes they also offer a bottle of wine or something if you book onboard during a certain time frame.

 

Since we usually cruise in Feb or March, we have stopped booking on board, bc we realized the cheapest time to book is when the new schedules are released (usually Nov/Dec) and the price difference from Nov to Feb to book has been more than the savings on board.

Exactly. We have been booking onboard with the low deposit so we can book non-refundable.
