Suggestions To Crystal

Is there a way of making suggestions to Crystal ?

 

I've looked at their website and they have either not got the facility or it's cunningly hidden somewhere.

In the survey at the end of the cruise. But maybe  it would not be a bad idea to do it in this thread that you have started.

I’ve written directly to guestrelations@crystalcruises.com. The guest survey is so genetic that it’s almost not worth filling out other to mention great service from staff members. The old Crystal had a very extensive survey which invited opinions and suggestions on all the ships’ activities.

One thing that comes to mind:

 

Those white containers at the bars used to be filled with assorted nuts:  Brazil, filberts, cashews, pecans, etc,

 

Then Crystal evidently decided to go cheap and they were filled with some twig-like snack or plain peanuts.

 

Please bring back the mixed nuts.

It's funny years ago I stopped with the nuts so I have no idea what they serve.

 

I guess I realized that I didn't want to share nuts that others might have touched and put back in the container.

 

Similarly I appreciate at dinner that the assistant waiter comes around with rolls and you just let them know what you like and using tongs they place it on your plate. I prefer this over another luxury line we sailed a couple of times years ago where one or two bread bowls were put on the table and served family style.

 

In my teens, 20's, 30's or even up to mid 40's I didn't care of give this one thought but like many things I evolved.  😃

IME, this has always varied by night.  In the 90’s and ‘00’s, my parents used to stick a glance into the opening and be like, “oh, it’s peanut night.  😔 “. So far this cruise we’ve had mixed nuts, salted peanuts and rice cracker snack mix, which is pretty much what we’ve had for the past 30 years, at least on “regular” cruises IME.  YMMV though.

I have just cruised again on Crystal Symphony, 24 days and felt the need to communicate directly  with Crystal Cruises  new management. I spent a fair of time searching for an email address. 

CrystalComms@crystalcruises.com.

I wrote a very positive email and explained that I was however concerned about the relocation of the current  Bridge room which is being moved to allow a casino to be installed later this year.

What was impressive,  someone responded and said that they have forwarded my suggestions  to the appropriate management. Good luck.

As first time Crystal cruisers we just finished RT Vancouver.  It was fantastic.

 

We completed the “exhaustive” survey yesterday….without a doubt the most comprehensive survey we have completed on a cruise line…Celebrity as most recent to compare.  And there was no last day/night “please give me 10/10” like we heard on Celebrity…which we frequently did on those cruises.

 

We made a point of recognizing by name and department every crew member who provided excellent service.  It was really 100% of the crew but we had frequent interactions with about 8-10 that we wanted to mention by name.   I feel confident that this feedback is communicated to the crew.

 

Pre-cruise I had only one occasion to reach out to Onboard Guest Services and their response was prompt and included the information requested…one and done.

 

The other wonderful aspect of the cruise was the crew was always asking if they could do something for you.  100% of the time in dining venues the team would return and check in to see if you were enjoying your meal or if you needed anything else.  
 

Just wanted to share what our experience was onboard and pre-cruise communications with Crystal.

P.S. We had peanuts with twist rice crackers on our cruise! Tried to avoid! Failed a few times!

My suggestion would be to please stop

allowing babies in or out of high chairs 

in the specialty restaurants.

Staff nor parents do anything to stop them crying

or screaming.

It spoils what should be a highlight dinner.

Thoughts on ballroom dancing in Palm Court before and after dinner.  They have a very good duo in Palm Court however they cater to the 3-4 ballroom dancers and the AHs. It would be nice to hear more current music and promote dancing that is not ballroom. I have heard similar comments from other cruisers.  I know some will say that is what Pulse is for but it is so small and not open until late. Thoughts?

Cruise lines should adopt best practices from each other.

 

Holland America serves bar nuts/snacks in smaller containers for each party.  You sprinkle them into your hand without touching them first. 
 

Disney Cruise has adult only (18 and up) dining venues.

NO!!! Us ballroom dancers already have to suffer through too many non ballroom songs in the ballroom dance venue. Instead I suggest you ask for Pulse to open earlier.

Crystal have a marvellous fitness suite but I’m far too old (75) for that as are probably many fellow passengers who are older.

 

I’m not sure if they have organised ‘fitness classes’ for people like us.

 

Could they not organise Chair Exercises / Yoga sessions of gentle exercises sitting in a chair ?

In the Land Experiences of the Crystal Website could they include ‘Activity Level’ as a search selection.

 

We only look for excursions of a certain Activity Level and currently have to wade through all the other Activity Levels before getting to the one we want.

When I was booking a cruise whilst onboard I asked whether they had any luggage labels.

 

Yes, they had but they don’t as a rule hand them out but in my case I got some but they still sent some by international courier.  What a waste of money.

If there will not be enough ballroom dancing, it will be my first and last cruise with NC.

I absolutely agree with you that Crystal  could easily cater to all dancers and have two venues open where one is strictly for ballroom, like at OC.

Pulse, though a small size, is big enough for non-ballroom dancing since there is not required much movement by dancers around the floor as in ballroom. Pulse was always empty on my OC sailings.

One time we stopped at the empty Pulse after visiting the Saloon. DJ was  ecstatic to see us!

He happily played the music on demand, and we had a lovely time dancing. 

Ask Crystal to open Pulse for dancing at the convenient hours.

There are two sessions of ballroom dancing per evening, 5:30 pm to 6:15 pm in the Palm Court and 8:15 pm to 11:00 pm in the Stardust Club on the Symphony and in the Palm Court on the Serenity, unless one does what we did which was to ask the cruise director to move the 2nd ballroom session to the Starlight Club which he graciously did on most nights.  There is barely enough room on the Stardust/Starlight Clubs dance floors to dance smooth but they are certainly better than the Palm Court. The only full size ballroom dance floor at sea (including a full orchestra) is on the Cunard line but I would rather forego the full size dance floor than not sail on   Crystal.

I have not been on an ultra premium cruise line yet where the bands/duos and DJs realize that there was music made after 1975.  You request something from Michael Buble or Ed Sheeran and they look at you with blank stares. Any band/duo/DJ who plays "YMCA" should be thrown overboard! I wholeheartedly agree that there should be a venue that plays non-ballroom dance music so that the hug-and-shufflers and other "civilian" dancers do not get in the way of the ballroom dancers 😉

The Starlite is on the Symphony, the Stardust on the Serenity. The former is a far superior dance venue not just because it is bigger but because it is light and airy with windows on either side. The Stardust is fully enclosed.

😁. While I agree in concept, I do have to say that on Serenity last week the duo at cocktail time was playing songs into the ‘00’s…. I don’t think I heard anything into the 2010’s, to your point, BUT I was only in the PC while the duo was playing a few times so I can’t rule that out.  😊

I have a real problem with the "entitlement" of this statement.

 

In the lead up to our first World Cruise in 2020, my wife and I decided to take ballroom dance lessons. We then made the mistake of trying to go out on the dance floor in Palm Court, staying well off to the side as we knew we were not very good. Sadly, the "Fred and Ginger wannabes", who apparently thought they owned the dance floor, basically "bumped us off" so as not to get in the way of their swooping dance routines. After this happened over more than a few attempts, we gave it up and left the floor to the "Fred and Gingers".

 

Given that, over 24 years with Crystal, the Sunset on Serenity and Starlite on Symphony are our favourite bars, we have had more than enough opportunity to observe the "ballroom" dancing, and frankly, it is rarely more than maybe half a dozen couples, plus the Hosts and the Single ladies out there, so really, which group is in the minority???

It sounds like Crystal may need to rethink ballroom dancing or at least the venue. 

On another topic, thoughts on face-timing and talking on speaker phone in restaurants and lounges on the ship. On my last two Crystal cruises it was out of control. It seems as though Crystal should create a policy and train staff on enforcement of the policy.  Is this just the world we live in now?  Would love to hear from others.
