saltshell Posted July 11 #1 Share Posted July 11 Anyone have info on this cabin. My PCC has never offered it, and I was unaware that it existed. I usually travel solo.
Rare Roz Posted July 11 #2 Share Posted July 11 There is more than one solo cabin on Rotterdam. Which one are you referring to?
Rare richwmn Posted July 11 #3 Share Posted July 11 The single cabins started with the first Pinnacle Ship (Koningsdam) and are now included on Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam. They are all on deck 1 forward and vary in size. Photos of several can be found at https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/ I have been in 1012 on all three ships. It is convenient to all the entertainment venues and not a terrible walk aft to dining options. I haven't been bothered by noise from the main stage, although some may have been. When Koningsdam first joined the fleet prices for these cabins were very good. However, because of demand the price has increased and is sometimes not much lower than going in a regular oceanview as a solo.

I usually travel solo. It appears that cabins 1002, 1006, 1008, 1012, 1014, 1018 and odd numbers from 1001 to 1011 are solo OVs. saltshell Posted July 11 Author #5 Share Posted July 11 Thanks Crystalspin. Doesn't look bad; wonder why it's never been suggested as an option.

One trick is that when you look at a cruise, the default number of passengers is always 2. The first thing you must do is change the number of passengers to one. They are also quite popular and if you do not look early they may be sold out. Finally, as @richwmn said, there is supply and demand involved so they may actually be more expensive than solo occupancy of a double cabin. Like @rafinmd mentioned, the single cabins ( similar to HC cabins ), sell out quickly. There might not have been any available when you booked. This cruise on Rotterdam already shows that the solo cabins are sold out. 21-DAY PANAMA CANAL & SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN: ABC ISLANDS Sun, March 1 - Sun, March 22 2026
BRUBEE Posted September 7 #9 Share Posted September 7 I've booked a solo cabin for March 7th sailing out of Ft Lauderdale. This will be my first solo cabin. Usually travel alone in regular cabin, I would give it a go and see how it works out.
Navybikermom Posted September 7 #10 Share Posted September 7 I inquired about a solo cabin on the Rotterdam and it was more expensive than a standard interior. I saved $1000 by choosing the interior, which I later upgraded to an ocean view for $200. I had a solo cabin on the Prinsendam and that was a lovely room with a larger-than-twin bed. At that time the price wasn’t more than a standard.
saltshell Posted September 7 Author #11 Share Posted September 7 God, I miss the Prinsendam.
BRUBEE Posted September 8 #12 Share Posted September 8 I agree, a bit expensive but when you travel alone they don't give much of a choice other than "don't travel". Still a bit cheaper than paying double occupancy. More perks would be nice for solo travelers.
Rare JimDee363636 Posted September 8 #13 Share Posted September 8 @richwmn If you snag one early enough, the price can be considerably less than for one person in a "regular" OV or even in an inside. I'm on a four-night K'Dam repositioning cruise next month (Vancouver to San Diego), and my solo OV cost me $394.00, plus port charges. I purposely chose #1001, even though it's a bit smaller than the others, because you only have one neighbor and you're not under any of the music venues. (You're under the theater, but late-night noise shouldn't be a problem). I'm eager to see how it goes. Jim 1
Moriah Posted September 8 #14 Share Posted September 8 I spent 2 weeks in a solo cabin and really enjoyed it. I love that these cabins are ocean view and not inside cabins, and the bed is a nice large normal bed that does not have a division down the middle. Keep in mind that the further forward the cabin the smaller it is. Which just means a few more yards of open space - everything else is identical. I missed having an actual couch or chair (these cabins just have that square bench in front of the desk/vanity. But all in all, I would book it again if going solo on Pinnacle class - even if it was a little more expensive than the single supplement in an inside or regular ocean view.
