shuang6 Posted August 8 #1 Share Posted August 8 Hi Will wifi calling work on the ship if I purchase the Premium Wi-Fi Plan? My cellular carrier is Verizon and I’d like to turn on my “wifi calling” feature so I can receive/make calls while on the ship, if possible. Thanks! Correct, unfortunately Carnival is one of the only major cruise lines that blocks Wifi Calling across all internet plans. Their official page has been updated to reflect this "Cellular-network-dependent Wi-Fi calling is not supported." It's very frustrating.
DeniseTr Posted August 8 #5 Share Posted August 8 But you can do a video call instead? Seems like they didn't think things thru.

What type of phone do you have? I use wifi calling and texting on Royal, but have never been able to get it to work on Carnival. If I could get texts, then I can live with that. I've only heard of texts working with iphones and I have a Samsung Galaxy.

kelkel2 Posted August 11 #12 Share Posted August 11 On the MG and jubilee I had the premium, I could get FaceTime to work all the time. But a WiFi audio call never worked for me so I stopped trying.

Just wanted to provide a data point: I've used Skype without issue, but I also have a subscription for Canada and the USA.
shuang6 Posted August 13 Author #15 Share Posted August 13 Has anyone tried to forward your cell phone number to a Google Voice number? Will it allow you to receive calls while on board? Just wondering….

pohlerbear Posted August 13 #17 Share Posted August 13 I get the basic social media plan and have call home either using facetime or whatsapp. I try to call on off peak hours- sometimes have to turn off the video.
171510Cook Posted August 16 #18 Share Posted August 16 Snapchat audio calls work for me on board. Same thing as a phone call essentially.
