DH and I did the South America Explorer (San Diego/Callao/San Diego) aboard the Statendam Nov.2-Dec.3, 2014. Also aboard were a couple familiar to a great many of you, Kakalena and her DH Virgil. Unfortunately both of the gentlemen were ill at the time. No photos to show but we did basically the same excursions allready mentioned.

We finally had a strong Monsoon rain last evening; all of the rain that has been happening in Tucson has been skirting around us. It was cool going to church this morning but over 100 by the time I got home at 12:30.

No on the drink of the day and on the red wine but the chicken salad sounds onderful.

DS continues to improve very slowly but I can see some progress every day. I am beginning to believe that I may be able to go on my scheduled Thanksgiving cruise, fingers crossed.

Prayers for all who need them, whether spoken or not and Hoorays for those who don't need prayer.

Jane

@kazu  Jacqui, I'm sorry your apartment won't be ready in time, but with all the paper work and preparations the buyers will have to make to move, it seems unlikely they could be ready to to move by the first part of September.  That would give them less than two weeks once the offer is accepted.

That's about what I was thinking. I know nothing about real-estate procedures in New Brunswick, so I could be totally off the beam, but in New York or New England, even if an all-cash offer is accepted tomorrow, there is no way that the sale could close by August 31. Buyers usually want an inspection, and that sometimes leads to specialist inspections (structural engineer, for example). Lawyers take weeks on end to complete title searches even if the abstract of title is complete and reasonably recent. When I was buying my present house, I wanted to move in a month later. The broker told me it was impossible, because (a) any local bank would take a minimum of eight weeks to review a mortgage application, and (b) the seller did not have the abstract of title. I replied that I had an out-of-state bank that could approve a mortgage in time, and a local lawyer who was advising me said that he could browbeat the seller's lawyer into re-creating the abstract of title within the month. But it could never be accomplished in 12 days.

oops sorry.

OMG you guys sure move slow in the U.S.

here a mortgage is done in days.  Most buyers are pre-approved with all the key verifications done.

my specialty was that field before I became a planner.  Inspectors have been out for some of the buyers so that condition will be waived,

things are much faster here in Canada with a banking system that is the envy of many,

it’s a different world here.  It will all work out, I hope. I will find out tomorrow.

thanks .

When our son bought his house it happened really quickly,  under three weeks and we had an inspection so things are possible.  @kazuThe good thing is you’re in the drivers seat,  can choose what offer you want and time frame that works best for you.  Fingers crossed for tomorrow,  all shall be well and things will work out as they should.  Hugs!

We bought a house in another state to rent to our DD when she was getting a divorce because she wanted the kids in the same school district and couldn't afford a house or even an apartment with her scrooge-like ex-husband trying to steal every penny out of their joint bank account.  But I digress!!  The seller was a realtor and agreed to a closing in two weeks.  We got it all done on time and the seller moved out right on time.  So it can be done if folks want to do their job and not try to gum up the works.  I feel Jacqui @kazu and her realtors can work out the deal so everything is done on a schedule everyone can live with.  Let's not worry yet.🤞

The smoked chicken turned out very good even if it took a little longer than expected, but it was bigger than what the recipe called for.  The meat was moist and tender, but we did not are for the smoked skin.  It was not crisp and did not taste that good.   It we do it again, it would be without wood chips or in the regular grill. If the weather is cooler, I prefer to roast the chicken in the oven.

While tomorrow is supposed to be the full moon, the moon tonight was spectacular.  With clear skies and low humidity, you could see details.

Came home to dogs and the cat laying in my lap, each of us getting cuddles we missed for 5 days. Fri night cat laid in DH lap until he went to bed, at which time he moved to my lap. Yesterday he spent the entire day on my lap and last night he went into the bedroom per usual.

This morning I didn't see him for breakfast and calls for him went unanswered.

This afternoon DH found him under the bed. He looked at him when DH nudged him, but he didn't come out. Something is definitely not right.

A few years ago, he had a very bad case of bladder stones and has been on a special diet since, no flare ups. Dr said signs to watch for are litter box and isolation. He is a very social guy, so isolation is easy to spot.

DH will try to get him out in the morning to go to the vet if he hasn't come out before. Vet is not open tonight and I would like to not go to the ER if possible. It's about 30 min from us, so can't get there quickly if we needed to, where our vet is less than 5 min away.

🤔😪

Elizabeth, I hope the vet can get the back in good health quickly.

Jacqui, for some reason we seem to make everything more difficult than it should be.
