Cruise Day one - Civitavecchia, cont

 

We had dinner reservations at Horizons, deck 6, private table for two at 7:30. Checked in and were seated immediately. Very attentive servers, and the food was delicious.
 

Chicken, Ham, Parmesan Croquette for appetizer, Roasted Chicken for main, Love Boat Dream for dessert. We have an early excursion in Naples tomorrow, so just went back to our cabin. Can’t believe we didn’t go to a show or a bar. We might be getting old, but 5:00a wake-up comes quickly.

Cruise Day Two - Naples 

 

Today we took a Princess tour - an 8-hour adventure that include a drive to Salerno where we boarded a boat to Amalfi, free time to explore on our own, return boat ride, then drive to Pompeii, where we had lunch and then toured the ruins.

We had specialty dining reservations at Crown Grill; the only time I could get was 5:50 and I’m not sure why that was because only one other table was seated when we arrived and by the time we left it was only half full. I had the filet mignon, baked potato and salted caramel crème brûlée cheesecake. All were excellent. We then saw a show in the Princess Arena with Charley Blue, a singer violinist, which we enjoyed. Journeyed on to the Piazza for great music and dancing with Mockingbird. Cruise Director Corrine and her assistant were there dancing the night away. I didn’t take any photos of the Arena or Piazza.

I think touring Pompeii was one of our favorites, although the tour we did combined a hike up Mt. Vesuvius then Pompeii.

 

Your photos brought back many memories of that place.

Cruise Day Four - Santorini

 

We have a Princess tour booked - Highlights of Oia and Fira. Princess has warned guests multiple times via letter in cabin and notice in the Patter that getting in shore could be delayed due to the fact that port authorities have established a limit of 500 guests from all ships in the are waiting at the dock to board the cable car or shuttles returning to their vessels.

Enjoying it very much, We will board October 19, and all you are posting makes us even more excited. We mostly do Celebrity and Holland but we are Platinum on Princess and wanted to see this new ship. Wishing you a very happy 34th anniversary!!!!

Wow! With nearly 15,000 passengers in port today that’s going to be quite a process.

Someone on another site posted the dining venues patter for today and Catch and Butchers Block were marked as closed - the poster's reservations had been moved to a later day in the cruise.  Seems very unusual - interested to know if you have seen anything going on in the Deck 9 aft area?

I look forward to hearing how this worked out for you, especially considering you were on a Princess excursion.  Did that fact help in any way?

Cruise Day Four - Santorini
 

We meet in the Arena for our excursion and, not surprising, everything was very well organized. We walked with our group to the tender and were taken to Oia, where we boarded the coach for our tour. We had no issues. 
 

Traveled into Oia, and got off the coach with guide and she took us to a square, providing info on sights to see and then we’re were giving free time to explore on our own. Such a beautiful place!

We stopped for a wine tasting and snack between Oia and Fira. We sampled 3 wines and I thought they were all great!
