Elite Breakfast

I was told that the buffet isn’t allowed in the cruises sailing out of the USA if the floors are carpeted.  It is considered a health issue. 
 

It is true that I was told that a few times.    Is it the true  reason?    I don’t know.   
 

I was on Beyond and sitting at the Bar on the Retreat Deck.  They wouldn’t allow people to sit there to eat their lunch.   They said it is against the health laws.    The year prior we could.

 Yes, this is true.  You will notice that whenever it's a buffet, the area where the buffet is located is never carpeted, always a hard floor.

We have sailed TS s out of USA and the elite breakfast was a buffet . It is on the 2 sides of the uncarpeted entry way

That was the reason they started to have coupons for drinks during HH 😁

Yep.  No need for a drink package unless you need more selections than what the HH offers.  Remember that it is a limited menu.  For me, I don't drink that much and I am happy with whatever beer is available on the menu.  I get my Latte's in the morning along with fresh OJ or Smoothie and a Bloody Mary.  Usually have the Smoked Salmon Platter and Fruit plate.  If I feel like eggs, I just pop by the buffet later.  As for Happy Hour, I usually grab a water and an unopened beer and put it in our fridge for later consumption.  I then get a glass of wine to bring to the table with me for dinner.  As I said, I don't drink that much.  Happy Hour is unlimited for the full two hours.

Coupons are long gone - drinks now available in almost every bar, the exceptions will be shown on the leaflet in your cabin.

"Out of the US" is the clue once the ship has sailed e.g. on a Transatlantic, the US regulations don't apply.

During TA's if you watch you will see groups of staff being trained  / retrained ready for the different regulations that will apply at the end of the trip. This training is in addition to their regular hours. Also there is extra cleaning in multiple areas again ready for the inspections that will take place immediately the ship docks at the end of the cruise. 

The same thing happens on TP's - it's a lot of extra work for all the crew.

I have taken a few TAs and noticed the extra cleaning when sailing west.

My last 3 TAs sailed west and had the buffets. Sailing east in Nov.

Exactly:

Sail West and the US regulations apply from the next sailing.

Sail East and you leave the US regulations behind from the moment you leave port.

On both routes the crew has to prepare for the new regulations, cleaning protocols etc that will apply from the end of the cruise.

blue, Tuscan, spa cafe, ocean view, MDR, room service, or just sleep in and skip them all

We usually cruise in suites and during the cruise will…

 

Breakfast in Luminae

 

Breakfast in Elite

 

Grab a ‘bacon butty’ (English bacon on French stick or a bread roll) from the buffet to take back to enjoy on the balcony 

 

Enjoy room service breakfast 

 

Grab coffee and pastries from Cafe Al Bacio

 

If we are too late for Luminae and don’t want to wait for room service we may go to the buffet

 

Skip breakfast and enjoy a bigger lunch…

 

One mistake I think Suite and Aqua guests make is to feel ‘obliged’ to stick to their named restaurant…In our opinion you should enjoy the whole ship.

 

Other options not mentioned in my choices are the MDR and Aqua Spa cafe which I intend to try for breakfast for the first time next cruise…
