As far as I know Bar Harbor has a size restriction on cruise ships that prohibits large ships from stopping there which would exclude all Princess ships. I am doing the. Boston/Quebec/Boston b2b in 2025 and Bar Harbor was switched to Portland

A friend did do Bar Harbor this summer though with Princess.

Wednesday was the second formal night in the MDR. The port was St. John’s.  Very cute shopping area right at the pier. It was made of used shipping containers. Unique !
When at Canadian ports there are only select bars open.  But at least there are bars open 🤡

We dined at Crown Grill again.  With unlimited SD it would be nice to have more choices.  We have been eating in SD since Sterling Steakhouse on Grand Princess in 2000.

Yeah, we thought Saint John (be careful- the Canadians WILL correct you on the full spelling of SAINT, and no 's after John, lol)   was cool. We walked through the container area then up two blocks to the big indoor farmers market.   Those Canadian towns are full of hills!

I’ve asked this on a bunch of posts/the formal

night. It’s usually 2nd and 2nd to last. Did they change this? I got app very late so most of the reservations for solo are used. I did get the 2nd and 2nd to last tho!

Back before Bar Harbor was dumped from the Princess itineraries, we did 2 Canada/New England sailings; 1 round trip NYC and 1 NYC to Quebec City.  We visited Acadia National Park and the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.

Looks stunning ! We're doing the NY to NY loop next Saturday, this is a lovely "taste" of what's to come, thanks for sharing ! PS we will be stopping in Bar Harbor though , I believe the sailing was grandfathered in along with a few others in 2024.

Ya we do get a bit "uptight" about that :). Always getting Saint John NB mixed up with St. John's Nfld....

I believe that's only going forward. Any cruises already booked before it went into effect are still stopping. Our cruise is still scheduled for Bar Harbor.

Bar Harbor. But it’s tender and I HATE tenders! I’ll be going ashore at Newport because I have a ship excursion. I’ll see how close we are to the dock and decide about BH! 🫣🙄 I don’t mind staying on the ship.

Uh oh...if you hate tenders, I have bad news for you about Newport...🫠

ours as well ( sept 21 enchanted). Grandfathered in prior to the restrictions. Think 2025 will see the restrictions come into play

We were briefly switched to Sydney, but then back to BH.

Lol!!!! I know! But that’s why I booked a Princess excursion. Figured the crew would get me off, take me on the excursion then escort me back. 🤞🙏

They will escort you to a tender to go ashore but you will join the line along with everyone else to come back to the ship. This has always been our experience in the past

The tender into Bar Harbor is much shorter than the one to Newport. Don’t miss Bar Harbor ( it is so charming. )

Several years ago - we stopped in Newport. They let people tender off for about an hour. Then, no one else could tender due to the high winds. They did let us tender back (the few of us who did make it to shore) and that was the worst tender ride I have ever been on. Newport is a great port. All of these ports are cute.

You will be fine. The excursion will bring you back to the tender dock ( very obvious) and the tenders will run continuously.

But you will not get any priority over people already in line. I have seen some tender docks where people waited an hour or more

Doom and gloom. In 37 Princess cruises the only extreme delay we ever had to board a tender was leaving the private island in the Caribbean when everyone left the same time. Except for the Falklands on our cruise around the tip of South America. All excursions had to sleep ashore on the floors of peoples homes and Pubs. Which is why you should also bring a few days of medication with you when you leave the ship. What an adventure! Just go and have a great time. If you feel you should then take a Bonine or Dramamine when you tender.

Tenders are an adventure in themselves.  We’ve had delays all over the world, just go with the flow.

We either do the priority line, if we have an excursion and get off early, or wait until the crowds are dispersed and get off at our leisure.
