Rare Jamman54 Posted Friday at 06:38 PM Author #76 Share Posted Friday at 06:38 PM Captain Massimo Pennisi begins to back the Carnival Venezia out into the Hudson River….. Here’s another look up the Hudson River towards the George Washington Bridge. The Carnival Venezia is now in the approximate spot where Captain Sully landed his jet in the Hudson River on that fateful January day in 2009….. Captain Pennisi turns the Venezia south, and begins to sail down the Hudson River….. To be continued…..

Rare Jamman54 Posted Friday at 06:53 PM Author #78 Share Posted Friday at 06:53 PM Here are some views of the New York City side as we sail down the Hudson River….. This is the Vessel which is located in the Hudson Yards. It was closed in 2021 after a rash of suicides. It is slated to reopen in the near future after mesh is installed to prevent people from jumping….. We continue sailing down the Hudson River….. That’s the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in the distance…… To be continued……

We’re looking up at The Edge…… We are now sailing past the Chelsea Piers….. I always joke that these look like golf tees, but this is called Little Island and it’s part of the Hudson River Park….. We are passing Pier 57…… Here is some more Hudson River traffic….. To be continued…..

None of my preconceptions were true, have been back about 6 times. I'm prone to anxiety so that's my biggest problem. Anxiety of a longer flight, anxiety of the logistics of figuring out how to get around in a big city. Just overall anxiety of visiting a new city. But I'm really determined to make it happen it's just a matter of what year or decade lol.

Rare Jamman54 Posted Friday at 07:11 PM Author #83 Share Posted Friday at 07:11 PM We are approaching Lower Manhattan….. Over on the New Jersey side we pass the Lackawanna Hoboken Terminal…. We next pass by this curious looking sculpture. She’s called Water’s Soul and she is 80 feet tall. According to the website Water’s Soul is asking us for a bit of silence, it is asking us to listen to its profound voice that speaks to us about the origin of the world and its memory. Silly me, I thought she was telling New York City to shut up!! We are now sailing past the Freedom Tower….. To be continued…..

Rare Jamman54 Posted Friday at 09:22 PM Author #95 Share Posted Friday at 09:22 PM Afterwards we stopped at Pixels which is on Deck 5 aft to pick up our VIFP gifts which were the tote bags. Patti then went back to the cabin to read and relax. I made my way to the Comedy Club in the Limelight Lounge on Deck 4 aft for the PG Comedy Showcase starring Tommy Savitt and Chris Clarke. I’ve got my favorite picture taking seat in the back, and my first Punchliner drink of the cruise….. It looks like it’s going to be standing room only for this show….. The Comedy Club Host for our cruises is Lisa Marie. She always tells a joke, and most of them are pretty bad, but she did tell one that I thought was funny: Q: How come Barbie never got pregnant? A: Because Ken came in a different box! First up was Tommy Savitt. I have seen him quite a few times before and he didn’t disappoint….. Next up was Chris Clarke. I hadn’t seen him before, and I though he did pretty good it being a PG show…… Afterwards, I was pretty tired and made my way back to the cabin. Tonight we have to set our clocks ahead one hour to get on Bermuda time. Good night! Coming up next: A fun filled first sea day!

retiring soon Posted Friday at 10:28 PM #99 Share Posted Friday at 10:28 PM Hi all! Jamman - I'm glad I found your review before you got too far into it. 2 days before you set sail I was on the Liberty of the Seas sailing from New Jersey and was so happy to finally see that teardrop memorial in the little park beside the dock. The pictures so far have been amazing, I love New York!! Looking forward to the rest of your cruise. BTW I sailed on Venezia in February and really liked the ship.
