Anyone currently on Eurodam ?

I am on the Konigsdam right now. We have not had live TV since the beginning of the cruise.

Music channels are very choppy.

I figure you are on the same route as us.

They keep telling me it is the location. I have done Alaska cruises before and never had this issue for more than a few hours before.

I don't have the answer but once you get your answer could you please post the location Koningsdam is headed to?  Cruisemapper.com shows your ship has left Juneau but there are no updates on your destination.  Thank you.

BTW, I've been on many cruises where TV reception is disrupted.  Sorry it's been such a problem for you.

So enjoyed the Eurodam a few weeks ago. I remember live tv being a bit spotty at times as well. Maybe the storm had something to do with it as well. There wasn't service in Glacier Bay but hopefully it will improve as you head to Ketchikan.

On Eurodam right now. Disappointed that we didn’t get to go to glacier bay allegedly due to weather when it’s clear other ships like yours are still going.

No tv at all today. Just a black screen and circling arrow. Has been that way all morning.

Agree. I have seen Glacier Bay twice and this Tracy Arm is a pathetic day to say the least. I don’t care about the TV, but basically we were lied to. Yes, the K went to Glacier Bay from what I understand. Don’t spend your port charge refund all in one place.

From my understanding, there are restrictions as to how many ships are permitted into Glacier Bay National Park on any day.

You mean all $11 we got? I’ve done glacier bay twice before too and today is disappointing in comparison. I don’t care about the tv either, but I feel like we’re being lied to also. Maybe a trip down to guest services and a bit of complaining is in order. I feel like we should get some OBC or a future cruise credit for missing half of our cruise.

I am sorry you are not enjoying Tracy Arm. We really enjoyed our day of scenic cruising ultimately getting to the glacier. Beautiful viewing and even some calving. Yes Glacier Bay is impressive with its multiple glaciers but now you can experience something different. I hope the rest of your day of scenic cruising is enjoyable.

That is my understanding too but we were specifically told we couldn’t go because of weather. So since we had it in our itinerary we clearly were within the limit of ships allowed for that day, but still didn’t get to go and were lied to as for the reason why we couldn’t go.

You miss the point. Every passenger paid for a certain trip. They did not get what they paid for. Do you think that is okay? I don’t. It is bad business. However if people just sit there and accept it, nothing will change. Unfortunately we are after final payment on one last HAL cruise or we would cancel in a heartbeat.

I don't know what day you were to be in GB, however today (Wednesday 10/2) the current weather map is showing light snow over Johns Hopkins and Margerie glaciers, with heavy snow falling on the peaks. It's raining, windy, and 52F near Bartlett Cove (entrance to the bay).

Truly not a nice day to navigate in GB. You said "allegedly due to weather"..sounds like you doubt the reason you were given for not going in ?

It's at the captain's discretion whether you visit any port. Read your cruise contract.

I could be wrong, but I believe the Eurodam, on its current itinerary, was originally scheduled for Glacier Bay, Tuesday, October 1. That was yesterday, when Eurodam was in Juneau a second day, sheltering from the storm. The national weather service office in Juneau said that on Tuesday there were 5 to 6 foot waves in the inner channels such as Icy Strait, and Cape Decision was expected to have wind gusts of 67 knots. So I believe that yes, the captain of the Eurodam cancelled Glacier Bay due to adverse weather conditions.

Well you are not going to like what I would like to say— so, I will only say that when you book a cruise you should be prepared for possible changes. I, personally, enjoy every aspect of cruising and look for the best even if it’s different than what I originally expected.

The weather was the “surprise storm” that was announced on board the evening we left Seattle. They are well aware of severe storms coming in from the Pacific…knew for days.

Yes, the same with hurricanes. People know well in advance one is coming, but no one knows until 24-36 hours before exactly where it will make land fall.

Weather is unpredictable. Alaska is well known for it.

I agree with you. We’re enjoying the rainy, cold weather outside whilst we’re inside looking out enjoying room service and taking naps. Making the best doing what we enjoy. I’m done reading all these complainers posts. And loving this cruise. Bottom line,,,,,,, we are safe.

I like your attitude!  Constant complaining doesn't help the situation.  Continue to enjoy your cruise.

I know everyone wants to see Glacier Bay, but I like Tracy Arm. I think that was our very first glacier. I loved how, when the glacier calved, the sound rumbled down the narrow fjord. It was like a gunshot followed by thunder. You don't get that effect in the wider Glacier Bay.

We had overcast/drizzle/rain every day on my cruise this summer (July). We got to the glaciers because the weather was calm. But it was foggy by the glaciers and we didn't see much.

This is cruise 64. Our mistake was booking this cheap line, and should have continued with Seabourn.  that’s all.   Never believe what is posted on forums. if you think this is a good cruise line, that’s great. We don’t.
