Interesting twist with internet

Currently on Eclipse.  When I went to set up my internet package (basic included with AI and I upgraded to premium pre cruise) after putting my phone in airplane mode I was immediately given a prompt that I was connected to the Celebrity internet.  I did not have to input my sea pass number and set up a username and password as I always have before…and as my DH had to do to access his internet.  Is it possible that X somehow made note of my cell number and just activated the internet for me?  That sounds much more technologically advanced than X’s IT normally is…

Perhaps you were connected to the free Celebrity Intranet. Try going to a non celebrity/royal website in airplane mode. I recently did a b4b and needed to re-establish my internet account for each leg of the sailing.

I’m on Cruise Critic, FOX news, FB, NextDoor, Messenger and Google…I’ve got full internet.

Awesome! A similar situation happened to my wife on one sailing and after a few days she needed to create an account. No rhyme or reason.

on our last cruise, I was surprised to find my onboard wifi activated without all the setting up account routine. Wonder if Celeb software recognized  my IP address or some other identifier ?    now considering website IT needs work….   I was surprised. And after the previous cruise, I had returned settings to my normal configuration.   Hey tekkies out there.  Ideas?.  thanks

All is revealed!!  This was delivered by our cabin attendant after I’d already been connected so I only just read it.

That must be new. We were on Eclipse in August and had to connect the usual way by creating an account. Not only that, but our premium WIFI kept dropping in our cabin and elsewhere around the ship. They finally added an extender in our room that solved the problem...at least when we were in the cabin.

Ah - the clue was having the app open so that the shipboard system had access to your login information to set up the account for you.  Wonder why they didn't do that ages ago?

But you have to tap to connect. It doesn’t just connect.

I was wondering that too. I will have my phone and tablet so how will the tablet connect.

That's a very good question! I'm wondering how folks with android tablets will connect sinceX stopped supporting the app for android tablets (although there's a workaround for that). Some folks have paid for 2 devices.

unless changed,  you are allowed 1 device per person

My bookings included 4 devices per person. Regardless, I understood that if you have 1 device pp that if you log in on another device you are logged out of you previous device's login. Some internet packages lock you into one device without the ability to use the package on another device. Hopefully Celebrity is not going this route.

I'm not sure what we have but there are 2 of us traveling & we both have premium WI-FI. My husband does not have a smart phone and uses my tablet.

DH did not take his phone but uses my iPad. We were Retreat so had premium wifi  and were told 1 device per person  so he had to set up an account for the iPad.  🤷‍♀️.
