Beer in Plastic Bottles

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any luck putting beer that comes in plastic bottles in their luggage for in room consumption?

Heck, that would take some explaining if the things burst all over your expensive wardrobe eh?

DH and I both are miller lite drinkers and they had it on ship in plastic bottles...next time we are taking cans....the plastic bottles just don't get good and cold enough...put a case in check in luggage and have a good time!!! Find cheap soft side cooler and toss it when done...

Don't worry the ship will still make enough $$$$ off of us on bloody marys and casino....one case of beer isn't going to hurt.

Good Luck!;)

Why skimp with plastic, shucks I suggest you try and roll a keg up the gang plank. Tell them it is one of those inflatable life boats inside and you have a fear of drowning. Quit with the small stuff.

Let me ask, why do people spend thousands on a cruise and then spend so much energy trying to save twenty bucks on beer and wine for the week? It has to be the "forbidden fruit" aspect....beats me.

Good question. Maybe it is the same reason people watch for price drops every day. Why pay more when you can pay less. Maybe they think that if they were going to spend 500 dollars on booze on the cruise, that if they brought some on, they would only spend 300 or 350. Why pay more when you can pay less. Take a liter of Jack for example. About 20 bucks average. I can carry that aboard and make 32 one ounce drinks. Or I can buy 32 drinks on the ship and spend 160 dollars. Why pay more when you can pay less.

And yes, I understand about the rules. I/m just trying to answer your question.

Also, they do allow you to bring bottled water and soft drinks onboard, don't they?

No offense to op, but having beer in a plastic bottle is a huge let down. It just takes away from the flavor and the fun out of drinking a beer, period. But hey, whatever trips their trigger in having to sneak beer onboard!

Maybe it's the thrill of it all, getting away with something that you're not supposed to do??

Your answer makes a lot of sense if the money saving was related to items that are within RCCL's policy for saving said money. They have no problem with crediting and refunding price drops, so that's a legit way to pay less. But, as you said you know, they can't word it any stonger about not wanting pax to bring alcohol on board, so that's where the "save a buck" theory falls apart.

It's actually a "save a buck, even if you have to cheat" theory.

Personally, I don't care if people bring the booze with them; it's up to RCCl to follow through on their policies, and all the smugglers have sufficient warning. So, they can make up their own minds about it.

I don't think it is just a theory. I think it is a fact. That is why people do it. To spend less money. And I do believe that many do like the convienence of having a bottle in their room so they can have a drink in their room before heading out for the evening.

If there is any other reason why people do it, I would like to hear it.

People do it for the convenience of having something to drink readily available in the cabins without having to wait for room service to deliver it or go out to a bar to get some.

We don't bring beer on, but I like a 12 pack of Diet Coke in my cabin fridge so that when I am getting ready for dinner, or just back from an excursion, it's already there, without the bother of having to go out and get it.
