I've finally had a moment to stop in and "say hi" to everyone -- basically so everyone at home knows we're still alive and to share a bit of this cruise with you all.

As you may remember, I'm photographically challenged in that I never can seem to get the photos to be the correct size and upload them, so I'll leave that up to the great "Radio" to do (his shots are just so clear any gorgeous, mine would pale in comparison anyway).

Speaking of, we had a very nice Meet & Mingle and I was very happy to meet Radio -- we had a nice chat, he took some pics (natch) and hopefully he'll post some for you to see.

As he already mentioned, the seas are very choppy -- we're rockin and rolling a bit today folks! Also, I tried to walk this am around 6am -- it was impossible! the wind was outrageous! Did the treadmill gig instead.

This is our "flowrider" cruise. My son loves it -- and his attempt this morning was less than stellar. It was FRRREEEEZING......windy and rocky. He lasted maybe a half an hour. We're hoping this afternoon's surfing session will be better (maybe we'll take a photo of RADIO for you all -- while he's surfing).

I'll try and check back in later --

Hope you can help as we are looking to book an '09 cruise on the Liberty. In looking at some photos of the ship, it looks as though some of the balconies under the solarium whirlpools may be a bit larger (they seem to bow out slightly). Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge or photos of these? Are they a good choice?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sue

Hello everyone ! I returned recently from the Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle meeting up stairs, and I will have to say that it was a fun meeting.

They had plenty of snacks and drinks for all of the Cruise Critic members, and they were able to raffle off a dozen or so Cruise Critic Logo Items. . . .Sorry I wasn’t one of the winners !

I was able to meet the Group Cruise Coordinator (Jamie Condon), who shared a lot of insightful information about being a Group Coordinator. His next job will be a Loyalty Ambassador on one of the Radiance Class ships.

I was also able to talk to the delightful LauraS(Community Manager, Cruise Critic) Laura was a pleasure to talk to and I am delighted that she was able to

share some of her experiences with the Cruise Critic and Cruise Line culture. Thanks Laura ! You are fabulous !

I was able visit the Casino and I must say that it is much larger than the Voyager Class ships. . . I would say maybe 50% larger, with twice as many table games. They have also added coin less payouts for the slots, so you can just print your ticket with the winnings, and cash them in or use them in another slot machine. The Casino Royale wasn’t very friendly with me today, but this is only Day 2!

I am going to grab some lunch, and then try to see if I can get on the Flo-Rider, and maybe do some Ice Skating. . . . Oh Yeah, and the James Bond trivia at 5:15 in the Schooner Bar.

More pics later. . . Thanks for tuning in !

from what I've seen of your pics so far, Liberty is exactly the same as Freedom. I reconized the pool areas, cabin, and Spinx lounge as having exactly the same decor as what I saw on Freedom.

I saw the Pier Coordinator desk when we were on Freedom, do you just walk up to the desk and ask? Do you make an appointment?

wolfie, no appointments for the pier coordinator - you spot the desk, and run as fast as you can, elbowing out anyone who gets in your way! (you know that the pier coordinator is in the terminal at check-in, not on the ship, right? :))

Radio,

So happy you'll be posting all this good information...our cruise on Liberty is 299 days! We're doing the Western Carib. but it will be great to read all about the ship before we board.

Thank you so much!

I LOVE the name of that bar 'Olive or Twist'! I am super happy to hear that the pools are freshwater! I found the hard way on one of my first cruises with you that there was saltwater in those things! Anyway, have an awesome cruise dad! Don't sweat the flowrider thing-if you have to, just boogie board & lie on your stomach...that's what I would do! No shame, wiping out hurts! More pics!!!!!!!

They were doing the Longboards (Stand Up) earlier, and the lines were way too long for the boogie boards later. . . I will try tomorrow !

Talk to you soon !

thankl you mixiecat3!

Rather than ask him to change the sheets every day, why not just switch out mid week(having to change the sheets then??)...

yeah thats a good idea, thank you!

I think you're going to be awfully crowded with 4 adults in one cabin and more importantly one bathroom!!

Why we chose to be 4, is that the other couple never sailed before, and are scared, they didnt want to come.. they are very very afraid of sailing..

after a while (and lots of support from all of us) they talked about maybe having a balcony room but the money was an issue,

So I suggested that we be us 4 in my room so it can be affordable to them and they agreed...

so that way they come with us on the cruise,

they feel better with the balcony,(Julie needs to see a *way out* incase of an emergency, its psychological LOL)

and they feel better that there will be someone else with them

On our last cruise, we were 4 also, with another couple, but in a little inside cabin..

that was crowded! me and my husband were on 2 little beds above the other couple, very weird.. but to me 4 in a balcony cabin will be no problem at all LOL

we go there to sleep basically, change, and wash ourselves..

As for changing and all, we were in a dance troupe all together so we changed in front of each other all the time, no problems..

1 bathroom, no biggies, me and the other girl spend 10 or 15 mins in the bathroom at the most..

(and normally we shower with our husband LOL so in 30 minutes, all of us 4 are ready to go.. :D )

and I'm sure there is some little thing to hang outside our door if we want to be alone for a while with our spouses, no?

(they did volunteer though to hold the blanket when we make love on the balcony :p )

yeah, so 4 in a room is not a concern for us,

what i was concern about is when i was looking at pictures, it looked like the bed was reaching to the desk, so i was thinking: when we open the sofa bed, it will touch the bed! that got me a little worried, but 1 foot of space is all i need, I'm very very tiny.

Thanks for you answers and suggestions..

Keep up the good work radio, I LOVE it! your pictures are so nice too...

Nancy

So, my uber casual dining plan may have backfired *just* a little bit. We planned on simply enjoying what I call anyfreedamntime dining, eating in the Windjammer (or even Sorrentos) each evening. We brought not one piece of resort casual, neat casual, or formal dining wear. Really, absolutely NOTHING we have with us would be appropriate for eating in the dining room let alone dining with the Captain.

Yes, that’s what I said – we were invited to dine at the Captains table this evening!!! And I had to decline because we have no formal wear with us. Ah, well, the choices we make – who would have known!! Hopefully I won’t have to wait another 14 years (since my first cruise) before I’m given the opportunity. Thanks, Capt Teige & RCCL for the invite.

We did have a lovely quiet dinner in the Windjammer, though. During the meal, we were entertained by LIVE entertainment – a wonderful Spanish guitar player. Note I said “LIVE”.

I’ll check in tomorrow,

Laura

I am loving your trip report and pictures, Radio. We sailed on the Freedom in 2006 and are very excited to be sailing on the Liberty on the May 24, 2008 sailing. I was very happy to see the picture of LauraS (Hi Laura!)...it's great to finally put a face with a name. Laura and I met many, many years ago in a Disney chat that she used to host every month on AOL! She has definitely gone on to bigger and better things by becoming a CC Community Manager!

Thanks for doing this for all of us! I hope the seas calm down and that you have a wonderful trip!
