bakerintn Posted January 26, 2009 #14 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Well, it happened this way. In 1999, the NCL Director of Ship Design was having an affair with a Carnival Cruise line Cruise Director. Because of her schedule, they were not together as often as they might. To celebrate those times that they were able to be together, and their mutual ability to understand each ones version of the English language, the Cruise Director always ordered a Blue Lagoon cocktail. It came in a very plain glass and was served only after a long wait. The first one always had to be sent back for some kind of a problem....but it was always available and came at no extra charge. The Cruise Director absolutely loved them, and always had several. The nights that followed the downing of these blue-tinted drinks were memorable, indeed. Unfortunately, the affair eventually came to an end, but the Director of Ship Design never got over it. So...when it came time to name an always-available, slow service, but no extra charge restaurant, it was a natural... "Blue Lagoon" of course!!
