Cruise_More_Often Posted March 24, 2009 #51 Share Posted March 24, 2009 I have 2 within 10 miles of my house....yum. The cups and hamburger wrappers have Bible scriptures on them...kinda neat. I had to check this out, 'cause I didn't believe you. It's true! Check it out. I'm usually too busy wolfing down the burger and fries to read the bottom of my cup. :D If I'm not mistaken, DH and I introduced Urban Trekker to his first In and Out burger in San Francisco. Urban trekker Posted March 24, 2009 #52 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Yes Adele - you did introduce me to my first In and Out experience while I was in SF a couple of years ago. Cheers Dennis
Putterdude Posted March 25, 2009 #53 Share Posted March 25, 2009 We left the house and proceeded north on AZ 95....aw' you don't want to anything about that. ;) We had our very first meal at In N' Out that just wasn't quite up to their normal high standards, in fact I had to take DW's fries back as they were cool. But you will be happy to know that I am no longer an animal fries "virgin". I threw my inhibitions and cares to the wind, dug out my cardiologists letter and ordered my first animal fries. They also were a bit cool but not knowing any better and being a non-complaining Canadian I ate them without comment. DW wanted to know how many arteries they would clog and then asked where my will was located?:D I am glad I have finally tried them....but all that I can taste some 4 hrs later is the grilled onions.... I probably won't order them again in a hurry. That said I am intrigued by another poster mentioning that you can order your fries extra crispy...that is something that I will try next.:)
Shirley and Les Posted March 25, 2009 #54 Share Posted March 25, 2009 Well, you locals are falling down on the job. ;) Here's how to get to the LAX In N' Out. Free LAX shuttle to In-N-Out Burgersby Neil Woodburn Jan 15th 2008 @ 9:30AM Stuck at LAX for a few hours on a layover and hankering for one of the best burgers in all of California? Well, you're in luck. There's an In-N-Out Burger just around the corner from the airport, and Gadling knows a little trick to get you there for free. An In-N-Out is located on nearby Sepulveda Boulevard right next to the Parking Spot--a parking structure that conveniently provides free shuttle service. All you have to do is wait under the red "Hotel and Courtesy Shuttle" sign outside of any airport terminal, and when the yellow and black polka-dotted Parking Spot shuttle swings by, jump on board. It will take you literally next door to In-N-Out. Follow your nose through the back door, across the parking lot, and right inside where you need to order a double-double and fries to enjoy the best layover of your life. There are a few things to be very careful about, however. First off, you need to make sure that you get on the Sepulveda Parking Spot shuttle; otherwise you will end up at the Parking Spot's Century location. Additionally, you should allow yourself at least two hours to be extra safe. The shuttles come pretty regularly and the drive is only five to ten minutes, but the line at In-N-Out can be as long as 20-30 minutes during peak hours. And then you've got to get back to the airport and through security once again. Since we are unfairly exploiting the generosity of the Parking Spot here, I'd like to take a moment to recommend their services. I actually use them any time I am flying out of town for a few days. They are the one of the closest parking lots to the airport without actually being on airport grounds (and charging airport rates). They a little more expensive than some of the nearby lots, but the structure is clean, has security and friendly staff, and will even valet park your car if you are running late. And, most importantly, after a long flight you can enjoy an In-N-Burger before jumping in your car and driving home. Yum! I used to travel to Tracy and Stockton on business and was quite impressed when they opened In N' Out's in both towns. Just joking about falling down on the job! You locals do a great job on this board. I wonder if there is a wine recommendation  to go with Animal Fries? Several years ago, the tour director at BV Winery replied "Chicken McNuggets" when someone asked what was a good food  with white zinfadel. Curt Jerome Wild Posted March 30, 2009 #66 Share Posted March 30, 2009 That said I am intrigued by another poster mentioning that you can order your fries extra crispy...that is something that I will try next.:) I always do that! The In N Out terminology is "Well Done"! Note I said that in my official order above. If she brings back fries, just pop them in the toaster oven to crisp them back up! This works great, even if you save them in the fridge and then reheat them this way the next day!:D

chadinennistx Posted March 31, 2009 #68 Share Posted March 31, 2009 The Azusa one is one of the original drive-thru only ones with a few seats outside. You can't just walk up to a fountain and refill your cup. I don't know if you can go up to the window and ask for a refill, I've only driven through it. :D As a transplant to Knoxville, I found Sonic OK ... burgers so-so for me, but the shakes ... To.Die.For. BBQ however ... CA can not even touch that. Since no one has done this yet ... This is your basic number 2. Cheeseburger, (no onion), fries and a medium drink. $4.95. I'm old school. I can't order by numbers, I have to say everything out. BSQ+CJW,thanks for the cheeseburger porn! about to make the one hour trek to my sisters who flew in my order from san diego. when i get there and start eating,i'm going to ask them to turn around and not watch as this will be a special and private moment.:o
