Rare MVPinBoynton Posted April 3, 2009 #26 Share Posted April 3, 2009 Thank-you lives-to-travel-er. That site was amazing and it really does show how large the balconys are. I am glad that the photos helped. The balconies on the side of the hump are quite nice. We were just on the Solstice again a couple weeks ago and got to go on a cabin that is on the hump. The balcony is the same as the standard balcony. Of course, being on the hump does give a better view down, but since there are so many hump balconies, it pretty much feels like the standard balconies when you look to the sides. lives-to-travel-er, Thanks for recommending our site. CathyCruises Posted April 3, 2009 #27 Share Posted April 3, 2009 I had a hump cabin (Sunrise deck) on Solstice and it was fabulous !! I felt very close to the water and I wasn't overlooking any lifeboats. Excellent position.... :)GB What cabin were you in?
Muushka Posted April 3, 2009 #28 Share Posted April 3, 2009 I personally LOVED my C1 hump cabin #1243 - about triple the size of a standard balcony - it was HUGE!!!!! Literally the largest non-suite balcony on the ship! The balcony was great for hosting cocktail parties - we had 25+ people out there one day! Being on the aft part of the hump there was virtually no wind issue to deal with. We got sun when we wanted it, and shade if desired as well. Due to balcony depth there were no privacy issues related to the angled shape. There are 58 +/- cabins with the same size balcony we had - they are: Resort Deck: 2105, 2109, 2106, 2110 Penthouse Deck: 1547, 1552, 1601, 1605, 1606, 1610 Sky Deck: 1075, 1044, 1231, 1243, 1247, 1108, 1120, 1124 Panorama Deck: 9155, 9192, 9209, 9215, 9237, 9241, 9266, 9270, 9292, 9296 Vista Deck: 8199, 8162, 8255, 8259, 8281, 8285, 8228, 8232, 8254, 8258 Sunrise Deck: 7159, 7206, 7215, 7219, 7241, 7245, 7260, 7264, 7286, 7290 Continental Deck: 6155, 6156, 6209, 6215, 6237, 6241, 6210, 6214, 6236, 6240 Most of these are on the hump, but some are forward where the ship starts to indent. The rooms run the range from Category 2C, 1A, C1, or AQ (with the exception of 6209/6210 which are categorized as 07 Obstucted Balcony - great balcony at a small price!). There are also many cabins adjacent to the ones I listed that also have oversized balconies that are about double the size of normal ones, but I would go for the triple sized ones first :D Hope this helps! Scott P.S. - I'd also tend to choose the ones that angle to the aft over the ones that angle towards the bow as the forward facing ones could tend to get windy ..... Ooooohhhhh - I was unaware that this issue had not been fixed! Yes according to that post the "best" angled/hump balconies on VISTA deck would actually be: Vista Deck: 8197, 8160, 8253, 8257, 8226, 8230, 8279, 8283, 8252, 8262 That'll teach me for trusting the supposedly updated deckplans! Wow, great job, thanks!:)

WehoAtlantis Posted April 3, 2009 #30 Share Posted April 3, 2009 We booked an angled hump on Equinox because of the feedback and photos from this site. These balconies are more private and as you can see from this photo, are much larger than those next to them. http://community.webshots.com/photo/fullsize/2139021740104101060VQRRCO
jspirit Posted April 3, 2009 #31 Share Posted April 3, 2009 Cabin 7282, loved it, and the configuration was - bed near balcony, sofa near bathroom. GB We will be near there in a few months and wonder if you could tell us: 1. was there a place outside the elevators where we could meet our roll call group for private excursions to walk off the ship together? Thought it was the Library but I see that is a few decks higher. Is it a reading room? 2. Is there a door leading to the elevators and if so, does it close quietly on its own or do you hear it slamming each time someone goes through it? Thank you for your help! A1A Posted April 3, 2009 #32 Share Posted April 3, 2009 The deck plans for the Vista deck on the Solstice are incorrect. We thought we would have an angled balcony by looking at the deck plans, however they are not correct. Anyway, the traditional deck has plenty of room and one should not be anxious about being so close to the elevator. This is not a make it or break it when booking on the Solstice, at least it wasn't for us. Please see my review of the Solstice sailing from last week. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=28 Hope this helps! Ken

Scott, I came accross your post and it was helpful. We are booked in one of these hump rooms on the Solstice angled to the aft. I will take photos of the balcony and post back on our return. CathyCruises Posted April 25, 2009 #43 Share Posted April 25, 2009 Can we hear from someone who has had an angled hump cabin facing forward? We are booked into 7215--just wondering if wind is a huge issue and if I should start looking for one facing aft. It seems like it would bug me not to be able to look forward--but who knows??? wcal Posted April 25, 2009 #45 Share Posted April 25, 2009 The closer you can get to the middle of the hump, the better. I agree unless the little larger angled balcony is really important to you. misprint Posted April 28, 2009 #47 Share Posted April 28, 2009 We are booked in cabin 9297 which I booked as it looked larger on the deck plan, it is the last cabin before the aft. Does anyone know if this will be windy and has anyone any experience of one of these cabins. There is still some availability on the hump on our cruise so I could possible change cabin if anyone thinks this would be better. Many thanks for all your help. Oceangoer2 Posted April 30, 2009 #50 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Hi...nice report on #1243...we have booked it on Equinox next Feb. Question: our cruise has it categorized as C1; if booked after April 19th it becomes a C2. Different class and cost. Any idea why? I just answered my own question. After 4/19, Equinox is re-numbering the cabins, so #1243 is in a different location, therfore, recategorized as C2.
