Those sure are some expensive milk shakes at $3.95 admission plus the cost of the drink. I don't know if we'll use the JR on our next cruise or not.

This is interesting to me. I just got back from the Enchantment (4 night cruise) and we received a booklet for a 7+ night cruise instead of the usual shorter cruise booklet. Maybe they are trying to get rid of the old ones.

 

I am starting to think that RCCL just doesn't value loyalty anymore.

I am assuming that most folks when using the coupon for a free visit to JR's leave a tip. That being said the lack of a JR's coupon will definately impact the tips of the staff. The art coupon does nothing more than assist in the attempt to commit a crime.

It really seems like the most used coupons were removed and the least used coupons have remained. Royal use to be such a great cruiseline that appreciated their loyal guests.

We may be Diamond in name but there's no longer much value to the status.

I agree when you are used to having something, then it's taken away it does leave a bad taste.

Have you guys seen the Carnival coupon books? Oh thats right, there is no such thing.

I recently booked a penthouse suite on Carnival for August, and at time of booking i asked the very nice girl........... So what other perks are included when booking a suite? Her response was the "room was very nice".

HUGE difference when I looked at all the little extras that are included for our GS on the Oasis in March.

Even though RCCL has done a lot of penny pinching lately, I think when compared to other lines they are still far and away the best.

Best suite perks are on Celebrity, butler, afternoon tea service/coffee service with pastries, small sandwiches delivered on the tea trolly to your stateroom every afternoon by your butler. Shoe shine service, sparkling wine, fresh fruit & flowers daily. Any meal that you want will be provived to you by your butler after he/she sets the table for you including table cloth. These are just some of the perks off of the top of my head.

Keep the silly fanny packs, keychains, and ships on a stick (o wait maybe that last one is CCL trademarked). Anyway. Just get back to some classy service-oriented cruising, and I'll pay the bill. Win/Win.

 

And if the economy and caribbean survive these next few years, and there comes a day when you build a new ship again - if it is bigger than 2200 pax...we will be done as to trying to make diamond.

Then turn around and read all the posts about Why is RCI so expensive, I can cancel my cruise and save $$ on NCL, HAL, Princess, etc, etc.

 

Now let's add get rid of the give aways and special items for return cruisers and then; oh look! A topic about how RCI doesn't appreciate returning cruisers and I'm a diamond, but that doesn't mean anything, although it's not about the free drinks. :rolleyes:

My point is what if you were accustomed to these perks and they did away with them? Thats what is happening to try to keep costs down, or as some will have you think to pay for the new ships.

My thoughts are, you get what you pay for and a lot of past costomers are not getting what they used to get, so many will leave to get what they are used to. Sad but true.

If you are trying to figure all this out you are lucky your head is just spinning. I read the posts but for the most part I have stopped trying to apply any logic to the vast majority of them.

I have never cruised for the loyalty perks...I couldn't even tell you what the perks are on other lines. I only know about these because of my recent trip and all the posts talking about the changes. I know it makes a difference to others but the "old" coupon books weren't that valuable to us anyways.

 

Yes, we used the $10 Internet coupon but that was it. We don't really drink, don't play bingo, don't bother with spa, don't get pictures -- actually we avoid them completely...

 

 

Baseball caps are useless, and we get to the port early so priority boarding isn't a huge deal. We were actually onboard the Independance before the Windjammer opened for lunch the 1st day.

 

We found we like Royal for the service and the Promenade..we have never shut our minds to other lines (even before any mention of the changes).

We had friends who were 1st timers and went on the Navigator. They ordered milkshakes to go and didn't pay the $4.95 cover charge.

Last September on Mariner we tried to use the 2/1 "cocktail" coupon for 2 beers. The bartender at Wig & Gavel refused to let us use it. (they let us use one there the year before) In fact, he got pretty nasty about it, saying it was only for "cocktails" meaning mixed drinks. We went to customer service about it, mainly because we didn't like the way he presented himself. Even customer service wanted to argue that a beer was not a cocktail, as a cocktail has more than one ingredient. We asked why they were spending so much time arguing with us when they were saving money on the deal .... a beer is way cheaper to give away than a cocktail. After way too much time (it's the prinicpal of the thing) we finally got a 2/1 beer.

I agree, after September we will be no longer putting RCCL first when looking for a cruise.

We will still consider them, as every cruiseline has its good points but the cut backs and price increases over the last six months are now showing and hurting.

We got the new books on a recent Majesty cruise. (I'm Diamond) I have to say that if they want to save money over there so badly, they should just stop printing these books, because they are now worthless.
