Just off the Majesty. New "ultimate value booklet" - Diamond and Diamond Plus. Was told would be "rolled out" fleet wide. Free drink coupon and free Johnny Rockets "dining experience" gone. Now get a 2 for one milkshake... buy one get one wine.... and :D $75 bidding credit to be used toward the purchase of any work greater than $1,000. :D Some other changes... nothing that got us excited.

YIKES....if this is what Diamond and Diamond + will be getting, I'm afraid of what we will get as Platinum.

The casino "free pull" is also a joke. A key chain is the likely outcome.

When I used the casino coupon, I got 13 cents. I wrote a letter to a lot of people about this insult. When I turned the coupon in the cashier said I could have a key chain instead. Further insult.

 

These books are actually ridiculous.

if things continue the way they are going.....we wont hesitate to consider all cruiselines going where we want to go when we are wanting to go.........in the past, rci has been the ONLY option- i hate to see this happen but as they tighten their belt to cut costs/ expenses we will be doing the same :(

while I certainly dont cruise for the booklet the chages are a bit of a bummer. The drink one was nice b/c my wife and I drink very different things. Wine is a little specific for us...oh well

They must be trying to get rid of the old books. We were just on Seranade of the Seas and got a Voyager Class coupon book. Discount on Johnny Rockets, Discount at Vinatages and Ben and Jerrys too bad none of these are on Radiance Class ships. Oh well, we still had a great cruise.

on the vision earlier this month we still got the free drink in souvineir glass etc but for us the cut backs seem to be just adding up.... gone are the days of appreciation... oh well we can live without the books but will spend MUCH less on board thats for sure :) i really think they shoulöd include a ton of BUY ONE GET ONE FREE coupons atleast that way tghey woulöd make some money too.... but make the coupons worthwhile not just something customers laugh at...

lakette, you are just misinterpreting that slot machine.

 

The amount on the slip that it spits out has nothing to do with it.

 

If you look on the face of the machine, it tells you what outcome on the tumblers gives you which prize. You simply hit that combination. The slips apparently can only be set up to print money amounts, not a prize.

 

That's not a change. It's the way it has been since they introduced this machine. (and took away the $2 for the slots coupon)

My D/+ booklet that I just got on 4/16-4/30 TA NOS has a big black stamp in the lower right hand corner on all of the coupons that says Valid During THIS CRUISE 04/01/2009-03/31/2010. I also hope you did not waste your dollars the only thing I used the coupons for were the 10.00 each off on the internet & their slot pulls. Would not be surprised if they do not take old coupons. One of the booklets I left in the drawer for the next passenger. Major disappointment. JR's was not busy at all on my cruise.

You have to wonder how much of the scaling back of the booklets is because of passengers using them as they were not intended plus the need to generate more revenue. :(

I believe it is to generate more revenue this falls into the cost cutting procedures.

Just got off the Liberty and had the new platinum book. Used the buy 1 get 1 free glass of wine coupon, won $.26 on the dedicated slot machine. Otherwise left the book behind. We sailed Celebrity in January '09 and did not use a single coupon in their book.

 

The coupon we really missed was for the Johnny Rockets cover charge. We did not eat there this cruise, decided we would rather use that money for something else (like a bucket of beer). LOL

My guess is that far less people will eat at JRs. We did not even consider eating there on our last cruise without the coupon.

I don't cruise for the coupon, either. But when you reach a certain level in a ship's loyalty program you expect to get a perk that's worth something.
