............and in case you are wondering' date=' the bacon policeman was at his post. [/quote']

I realize that this is probably a stupid question........but what does this mean exactly? I read something about bacon police earlier but didn't know what that refered to either.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I am a guy that used to need a suit case just for shoes!

This cruise I packed on pair of loafers to wear with khakis. One pair of dress shoes. And one pair of closed toed sandals to wear with my shorts.

I packed the shoes and all of my outfits into a carry on bag! No checked luggage for me this time around. The suit case fit nicely into the over head bin with no issues. I actually had two outfits left over that I never wore.

As I usually do with the exception of this trip, I will fly in the day before! It is just to stressful and risky to fly in the same day. I wont do that again.

This was a four day cruise. I have never done less than a 6 day and usually a 7 or 8 day. Will I do a four day again? Not likely. If I lived in Florida and wanted a long weekend I would do it. But I really dont think it is worth it for me to fly to Florida to get a on a ship for a short trip. It is just too much for me I think.

I was a bit worried about the crowd onboard being a bit rowdy since this was a weekend cruise. Not the case. There was a good mix of people. Young and old. I did see ONE drunk person in the casino bar. He was alone and not causing any trouble. He just had trouble keeping his head off of the bar.

Other than that no issues.

I know food is subjective but Carnival your regular guest are noticing the cut backs in food. I realize you have to fill your ships but if you are cutting back on the food to make up for the discounted fares then please raise the fares! If you have a good product people will book your ships.

Where are my chicken tenders and onion rings?

Other than the nasty life vest and the costumes of the dancers I really had no issues with the service or the condition of the ship.

I will say as a former smoker and one who is not usually bothered by smoke that the ventilation system could be improved to suck the air up into vents and away from the non smokers. I go to bars at home and people are smoking and it doesnt bother me. But on some of the ships its seems the ventilation is not that great.

I hope the assistant CD on Destiny gets a hair cut and gets rid of those way over grown side burns so as to match the clean cut image of the rest of the Carnival staff. It was just weird.

Thats that.

I am happy to answer any questions.

As of late Carnival has a person serving bacon. Usually 2 or 3 pieces at a time. No more self service of bacon.

Everything else you can get yourself including the link sausage.

Well isn't that the weirdest thing. Hummm. My DD will not be pleased at all. One of her favorite things about cruising is I do not limit her bacon consumption. She's been known to eat a pound of bacon and 2-3 danishes for breakfast. I guess this time around she will have to eat with me in the dining room if she wants lots of bacon without going through the line time after time.

And- for those who are going to yell at me.........my DD is almost 18 years old and if she wants to eat a pound of bacon a few days once every two or three years....yes, I think that is just fine. Thanks

Was there any fruit punch?

I found it funny your mention of bare buttocks and missing your lobster dinner, well if anyone saw my bare buttocks they would certainly lose there lobster.

No fruit punch. Just lemonade and tea.

Thats ok with me. I didnt like the fruit punch anyway.

When they serve you, you can ask for more and they will give you a few more pieces.

The first time I saw the "bacon policeman" was on our Glory cruise in February. (He also was the sausage policeman.;)) My understanding is that they're trying to cut down on people taking way too much and then not eating it. It really wasn't a problem for me - the server usually gave me four strips, which is fine for me (probably too much:rolleyes:) - but I saw other people in line ask for more and it was served without a problem.

Ron, great review! Enjoyed reading it!

I do understand that a lot of people to take things and wastefully throw it away, so I don't say as I blame Carnival for taking measures to help with that. It's really not a big deal, just glad I knew so the frantic teen doesn't come back..."but mooooooom, they wouldn't let me have any baaaaaaacon". Anyone that has or had a teenager will understand the drama any situation can cause, lol.

I just made her aware of the situation so she is prepared to come sit with me where they can bring it to her. And, actually this pleases me. I always try to find ways for us to spend as much time together as possible with out hearing "but mooooooom, I wanna go spend time with my frieeeeends". hee hee

I don' t usually get into the whole flame game, but "We sat and sat for about 10 minutes" ?? 10 minutes for any airline is pretty much normal ops in my book.

I have had a lot of the same type of service with many airline counter agents. Sorry you had such a bad experience...hopefully the cruise was better.

I don't understand the whole critique every tiny part of someones review game, and frankly does it really make a difference?

I have sat in that "next to take off lane" for what seems like hours when your waiting for a connecting flight on a tight schedule.

Nuff said

Ron, sounds like you had a great time despite some "speed bumps" in the beginning.

Great review!!

One question if I may, why didn't you just ask for different tablemates or your own table in the MDR? I just guess I'm sorry you let some little dip ruin your dinner so many times, sounds like they might have benefited from my hospital :D (I'm a psych nurse btw) ;) Drop the f bomb on my time I'll pop em with haldol  , jk

Thanks for taking the time to write, and remember don't use Delta next time. I did southwest for the first time last week, they were on time 100% all the way and they had pleasant staff, wowza, hard to find.

Happy sails, Carole

I did have a good time.

As far as asking for a different table I would have had it been a longer cruise. It just wasnt worth the trouble.

I think JetBlue is going to be my new favorite airline. ;)

I'm stuck here in Nebraski and we have no Jet Blue, but we do have southwest, I'll love them till they get outragously late all the time or start charging for the first two pieces of luggage.

But truly I bet we'd save TONS in airlines if we just relocated to Florida, ok so thats my new push for my hubby, convince him moving will be a feasible thing (we wont tell him I'll spend all my free time on short cruises till I've moved"lol

Cheers dude

Again I am far from being a prude and I think there is a time and place for everything.

The shows were great and could have been done with more clothing. It appears the costume designers went out of their way to clothe these ladies in as little as possible.

The costumes are part of any show but should not be a distraction.

Not everyone wants to see ass and tits.

When the CD comes out and warns that the costumes may be too much for little kids to see then......hello?

Yes I could have walked out but nobody should have to do so.

I have to agree with you on this, and I'm no prude. Some folks with kids did walk out on one of the shows we saw.

Enjoying the review Ron!

Sidebar: The CD also announced a warning about the dancers' costumes prior to the performance of "Shout!" on the Paradise last month. I'd seen the show before and didn't remember anything particularly risque' and after the showing I was left wondering exactly what they were talking about. On the Pride, yes, dental floss thongs on the ladies underneath skirts they kept lifting. I understand (and, as a parent, appreciate) the warning in that case. But either I missed something during "Shout!" or they're now making blanket statements prior to the shows. Interesting.

Hmmm, AQW, wondering if I know you from somewhere. :)

Yes the bacon policeman is there most of the time...but it's no big deal..I just keep asking for more til I get that amount of bacon I want. He never raises an eyebrow or hesistates to pile more on my plate...so I just consider it an extra "service" to have someone put my bacon on my plate.

They don't limit your bacon..just tell the bacon cop you want some more...and more and more...until you get what you want. He doesn't REALLY care how much bacon you get, he just gets paid to stand there and "dish it out!"
