Nasty life vest, naked dancers and water spouts! Carnival Destiny May 28

Recommended Posts

OK we are not all germaholics! But while on vacation in what might be considered a closed enviroment a little extra caution is just common sense. :D After all I DO NOT want to get a nasty stomach bug and be confined to my cabin because of someone else who is well....a PIG. :o Come on how many times have you used a bathroom on the lido deck and seen some one walk out with out washing their hands and go directly to the buffet? And taking a minute at the begining of the Cruise to do a quick wipe of the things in your cabin that you just know the Stewart hasn't wiped down again OK with me. As I have no idea who was in there last. And yes I do this when I travel and stay in hotels too. Sorry folks but one of the cost cuts in the travel industry is in staff and housekeeping staff is high on that list. :( They are over worked, given more rooms/cabins than ever and have to do their job in a limited time frame. You do what your happy with and I'll do what I'm happy with but if you get sick and are confined to your cabin I will not feel bad at all!

Sounds good to me. From a mother of three, guess who else gets stuck in the cabin when the kiddies get sick?

As of late Carnival has a person serving bacon. Usually 2 or 3 pieces at a time. No more self service of bacon.

Everything else you can get yourself including the link sausage.

That's hilarious!! The reason people take so much bacon on the cruises I have been on is because they apparently fry it in a pile and it is all in one string. I solved that problem by grabbing another set of tongs from an adjacent tray and pulling the bacon apart, but I have seen a lot of people just letting the string run until it breaks.:D

We just bite off what we want and put the rest back.

Don't know how many times it has been stated, but if you get near the dancers, you will see they are wearing full coverage tights under their costumes... what appears to be flesh is actually lycra :D sorry to disappoint you guys...

Ummhuh, I tried to tell them that. Those tights are pretty thick, kind of like support hose.

Pretty much. Bacon is supposed to be crisp. Crisp, I say!

Exactly - DH always tells his waitstaff, if you lay my bacon across a knife blade & it droops down, it's not done yet - throw it back on the grill!

I'm guessing that 98.7% of all red-blooded (non-gay) males reading this thread

are either laughing, chuckling

or shaking their heads in dismay(because their wives are also OCD?!) :D

A fair chunk of females reading this... are also wondering what's up these chicks' noses

with all the compulsive War Against Germs stuff...

You are NOT alone, trust me!

Man, I'm a frequent handwasher for sure, but never thought about my own room or the remote. I bet those are chock full o germs. I don't touch bathroom door handles & try not to use stair railings either. I worked in daycare for a while & currently work in a veterinary clinic. I think my immune system must be pretty strong or I am just really really lucky. I just never thought about wiping everything down.

LOL.

You will have to wait until after my nap.

LOL. I know an hours nap can seem like eternity! :D

Hopefully I wont get flamed for that. :o

More later this afternoon.

I promise.

No flaming for that. It sounds like you need one.;)

What a great review and funny thread.

We're looking into cruises for next summer and giving serious thought to Destiny -- different itinerary. I think it's very safe to say that there will be considerable differences between what we'll be looking for and what attracted the OP to this cruise. We'll be doing a family trip, where things like water slides, the kids club, and accessible and fast buffets take considerable priority over the casino, gallery-hopping in Key West, Dress Clothes Night, the shows, and table mates at the late dining.

Yet, I found the review informative, helpful, and funny. So, thanks OP. And, most important, it gave me the most important tip for this cruise: What to say to Mrs. Regguy when pretending to be repulsed at the amount of skin during the shows: "The costumes are part of any show but should not be a distraction."

I'm gonna need to practice this a few times precruise to make sure I can say it with a straight face. (Pun intended.) Thanks for a great review and some chuckles.

I bet those are chock full o germs. ===> Scary huh?

I think my immune system must be pretty strong

- or I am just really really lucky. ===> Most folks I-system is humongously strong!

I just never thought about wiping everything down. ===> Never even crossed my wife's mind, either! :D

And you've survived it very well so far.

Isn't that just amazing, huh?!

You think this fetish could have anything to do with HouseWife America being brainwashed by Televison ads?

Is your shower scum building up?

is there a pyramid of goo in there?

Is your toilet really reallyclean?

Did your dog die after drinking outa the bowl?

You know the sort of Sales Pitch they give the girls...

Figure it out for yourself..huh?

It's all about sell sell sell. My product for your money.

Create the fear(of germs) and watch the stuff fly off the shelves.

You are absolutely correct. They all wear hose, and have to wear it.

So they are far from naked.

There is more bare skin in the audience than on stage.

I wondered about that. Ice skaters wear costumes that at first glance appear to be quite revealing but it's really skin colored fabric. I'm sure Ron can tell the difference and since i wasn't there I take him at his word.

It is surprising that Carnival would have a show with half dressed dancers.

Actually, they are fishnets...skimpy costumes have never been an issue for me...grew up around the theatre...In the Beatles show on the Freedom in January, there was even a glimpse of 2 guy's butts!! lol

The one thing that DOES surprise me...is that the kids' club takes the kids to the shows...I don't mind that my son goes...but other parents I bet would!
