jakoblovesships Posted June 4, 2009 #201 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Ron~ Big bummer about the chicken-tenders! The ship had them when we sailed on her back in December. I've been on 6 Carnival cruises, and have never seen costumes, like the ones on the Destiny! We brought our kids to the shows, and ended up leaving on two occasions. Our kids loved the shows on the Freedom! Great review...Thanks for taking the time to write it:) Misty!
cuyahoga11 Posted June 4, 2009 #202 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Am I like the only person in the world who doesn't worry about this sort of stuff? Not that I'm dirty -- I wash my hands often enough, use napkins, scrub down my desk if it's in need. But really? disinfecting the room? I dunno, maybe I just don't think about it and ignorance is bliss. :p I am with you. I am a frequent traveler and have never worried about any of this stuff. Heck, I am from the generation where the whole neighborhood drank from the same garden hose
RjayB Posted June 4, 2009 #203 Share Posted June 4, 2009 I do not understand why so many Americans are such prudes! This reminds me of the review of the ship with the "porno" art. Silliness.
Sherrybaby412 Posted June 4, 2009 #204 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Carnival may be cutting costs on clothing too. Perhaps that's why Ron witnessed naked dancers? Or maybe they are trying a new way of attracting customers? This pic cracked me up... :D

I too have been on 6 Carnival cruises and usually the costumes, though skimpy, are covered by feathers and such. Not this time. All I saw was buttocks and a thin string going down the crack. I had never seen these shows or costumes before. Thanks. :)

Andipanda1 Posted June 4, 2009 #207 Share Posted June 4, 2009 This is not new, it was a fact when I took my first cruise in 1982. I am kind of surprised that everyone is surprised. It was my first Carnival cruise--costumes aren't like that on RCI. In any event, I was surprised.
LemurCat Posted June 4, 2009 #208 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Some people like their bacon so that a good veterinarian should be able to revive the pig. Not me...... Of course not, that's the proper preparation for beef.

quickrate Posted June 4, 2009 #213 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Great review and some great commentaries by others. I'm just glad that I have an immune system and don't worry about germs and Lysol. Also glad that the dancers wouldn't have bothered us in the least. I am bummed about the Bacon Gestapo due to liking my bacon crispy and I usually have to dig to find decent slices. I'm also am taken aback by your table mates. Showing up plastered and wearing the swimsuits warranted being asked to leave in my opinion. Well, I couldn't really care less about the swimsuits I guess when it comes right down to it, I just don't like anyone being drunker than I am!!! lol My attitude has always been if I keep my immune system strong, germs won't bother me and I won't bother them! Never get sick and never bother wiping things down. Too many fun things to occupy my time on the ship-can't be worried about silly germs! I dunno, maybe I just don't think about it and ignorance is bliss. :p I have worked as a registered nurse in the ER and the County Jail for years and never disinfect anything when I travel or otherwise. I simply wash my hands often and avoid touching my face. Can honestly say that I never come down with anything more serious than a cold every year or so. Heck, even my 3 year old who has eaten dog poop and has brushed his teeth with toilet water before (his idea - not mine) is no worse for wear. Cobra1365 Posted June 4, 2009 #216 Share Posted June 4, 2009 I'm still not getting it...I can buy the delay on the airplane...not much you can do about that if you want to get there. But nobody made you sit and sit for 10 minutes during the show. Nobody made you eat the bacon. Can only imagine how bad the water spout is going to be. But by the same token, nobody is making me continue to reed the whine....out.

I dont know why I am replying to you because one of us is not paying attention lol. :D I said the shows were great but the costumes were a distraction. I never said I didnt like the show or wanted to leave. Where did you get that? Nobody made me eat bacon? I never said I actually ate or asked for bacon. Other people have interest in the bacon police. I was just confirming that I saw a bacon policeman on Destiny. Whats your issue with that? The water spout? I covered that already. Nobody made me do any of those things you pointed out and I assume nobody held a gun to your head to make you read this review. :D Have a nice day. :)
Cruisin' Ron VA Posted June 4, 2009 Author #220 Share Posted June 4, 2009 As I said at the start of the review that this was a review of what happened on MY cruise as I saw it. Other people may have been on this cruise or the ship in the past and may have had a different experience and thats ok. Yes I love Carnival but I will "calls em' as I sees em". That means I will tell the good, the bad and the ugly. I felt I have had to explain myself over and over about one part of my review. I opened myself to that when I wrote it and my view has not changed. Agree with me or not it wont change my opinion. I thank everyone for reading and for their comments. Unless anyone has serious questions about the ship or ports of call I will respond no further as I feel I have over explained as it is. May all of your cruises continue to be perfect with fair winds and following seas. :)

Anjanu Posted June 4, 2009 #223 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Ron, I have no plans near or in the future to cruise on the Destiny since I don't fly I won't be going to Miami to board her but I thoroughly enjoyed all parts of your review and the anticipation of waiting for you to complete your nap so I could read more of what you wrote! I should never say never because if Carnival decides to move the Destiny to Jacksonville or Pt. Canaveral, then I would definitely sail on her and after reading your review, I shall be prepared. :D
Cruisin thru life Posted June 4, 2009 #224 Share Posted June 4, 2009 The one thing with this review that I really appreciate is the fact that the OP did NOT blame the entire dining room staff for the behavior of his ill mannered tablemates. So many others would have blamed the entire staff for not removing them from the situation. Although it is the staff's responsibility to keep order in the dining room, I can just imagine the scene the WHOLE dining room would have witnessed had the tablemates been asked to leave. This is the part where the southern gentleman in me comes into play. You are correct. I had no reason to blame Carnival for the behavior of my table mates. You win some and you lose some in that department. It was my turn to lose but I conducted myself in a mature manner and removed myself from the situation. Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate that. :)
