Does Azamara ever cancel cruises?

With only 3 and one half months until my cruise no one has signed up for my rollcall and Azamara just lowered their prices again for the cruise!

no they wont cancel...but it is worrysome that there is a new fuel surcharge ..that will drive more people away...

what they have done in the past is a two for one for those in europe, who dont need air...practically giving it away....but filling the ship ...

thus making up with casinos, tours, liqour, other charges to still make their profit....

There are a lot of people who do not know about Cruise Critic...I know that is very hard to believe.

You still have over 3 mths do not give up hope

Just when you think you have the ship to yourself you will find it is full ;)

I am sure you will be fine and yes, there are some people who have no idea about Cruise Critic. I never understand that? You spend $3,000 plus on a cruise and don't go out of your way to find out as much as you can about the cruise? WTH?

At any rate, never say never. Celebrity cancelled an entire season in Australia/NZ last fall. We and thousands of others were booked on Millennium over an eight week period and X canceled the entire season because of lack of bookings. That's how we ended up taking Quest in SE Asia next Feb. But if the cruise before yours and the cruise after are OK, yours probably will be as well.

If you are curious about how many cabins might be available why not try an on line booking site and see the cabins that are offered in various categories.

By the way,we just booked the Quest this week for a July 26 cruise.

You have plenty of time to fill the ship.

Good luck.

Hi Huejack !

With 3 1/2 months to go, it would be very surprising if Azamara canceled your sailing. That I know of, Azamara has not canceled a sailing yet. I wouldn't view the lack of a Roll Call, as part of any reason for concern.

Enjoy your Cruise !

As first time cruisers we are booked for Azamara Quest Sept 26th- Oct 7th Barcelona--Venice and so far have not seen any reference to this cruise, and fortunately nothing about fuel surcharges either. Will be dealing with Roll Call shortly.so maybe that will start the ball rolling :)

I have never heard, or read on the various threads, of Azamara ever cancelling a cruise. ----Penny
I concur with DrKoob's "if the cruise before yours and the cruise after are OK, yours probably will be as well."

BUT I have in my hand the Azamara “2008/ 2009 Cruises & 2010 World Cruise” brochure. It is selling the Azamara Journey 2010 World Cruise in total or broken into five segments. Day by day scheduling is listed, departing Los Angeles 5 Jan 2010 for “South Pacific Escapades” segment, departing Sydney 29 Jan for “Pacific Theatre”, departing Hong Kong 20 Feb for “Orient on Parade”, departing Singapore 14 Mar for “Cape of Good Hope”, and departing Cape Town 3 Apr for “Atlantic Islands” finally arriving Cape Liberty, Bayonne 27 Apr 2010. None of this cruise is offered in Azamara’s 2009/2010 brochure or on their current web listings. I don’t know how much Azamara sold prior to canceling the 2010 World Cruise, but obviously they did cancel.

The difference between the world cruise example and the OP's question is the world cruise was cancelled and replaced with other itineraries more than a year in advance, not just a few months before sailing.

While Azamara may change itineraries from what is originally announced, they don't outright cancel a cruise for lack of passengers close-in. They may cancel for operational reasons (mechanical, for example), or for a charter, but they don't just not cruise one sailing. That's what fare sales and promos are for ;)

Hi Everyone !

I agree with BurBunny's response. There is a big difference in cancelling a series of sailings over a year in advance, due to changes in itineraries. That happens all the time, and to most every Cruise line. What the OP was asking, is.... might a particular sailing be canceled due to lack of sales. This is how CC members responded, when we said that Azamara has not canceled a Cruise - due to a ship being less than full.

As others have said, Azamara as well as other Cruise lines do a great job of filling up sailings that are not fully booked. It's probably nothing to worry about.
